Re: Markelle Fultz Appreciation Thread
I like the idea that the Magic did take a chance on Fultz. Especially with all the scrutiny he went through as a Sixer. A bit of a feel good story for the Magic and Fultz. He still had his injuries and didn't live up to the #1 pick in the draft. He was decent for the Magic when he was on the floor. At this point of his career, I think he has an opportunity to be a solid backup for a team for the duration of his career. I wish Kelle the best as he moves forward to find his next team.

Called this awhile this a while ago, although I thought he would be traded. He seems like an amazing guy. I wish him the best.

I feel bad for the guy. His body failed again him just when he started pushing it a bit. I was optimistic going into last season when he started doing this near the end of the prior season:

Re: Markelle Fultz Appreciation Thread
Happy trails to Kelle, hope he latches on with another team (he should, I think).
Overall it was a nice comeback story, and his slashing and passing was a good asset at times for our teams. And he was an excellent teammate by all accounts. But now his skillset doesn't really mesh with our needs and we need to empower AB/Jett some more to see what they've got. Hopefully he can get and stay healthy from here on out.

Re: Markelle Fultz Appreciation Thread
The Magic showed their appreciation in a cumulative 80M+ in income. More broadly, Orlando resurrected his career. He will get resigned. And that would not ave been the case without the last 2 years in Magic blue.

Re: Markelle Fultz Appreciation Thread
It's fascinating that so many Twitter posters are saying that Fultz is one of their absolute favs. How is that possible?

pepe1991 wrote:From start to finish his nba career has been trainwrack. Especially 76ers saga. In Orlando he was shielded from any critic, media, fans, medical reports, pressure, babied for 5 years. And what we got from all that ? Lost pick that somehow turned into Maxey.
He is probably good dude outside basketball, but as basketball player, by nba standards for PG, he simply has too many issues to be in rotation for more than 12-14 mpg.
Comes as no suprise he is yet to be signed by any NBA team. Hopefully later end of his career won't be as ugly as Payton's.
HIm and Bennett are now probably for sure going down as worst 1# picks of past 20 years.
He did his best for us and am pleased he got a second shot, but his career / what happened to his shot is definitely going to be a 30 for 30 one day.
Completey agree it was a move that needed to be made, and was overdue, this was season was a real struggle to watch.
Thanks for the shift Markelle, all the best
I still believe in Magic! Welcome to the Franz & Paolo era

He made a ton of money and was a bust. Nothing to appreciate at all. Probably stunted the development of the rooks too. The best thing he did was get a haircut. It made his teammates’ haircuts better. Now Anthony Black is on the hot seat.

That's on coach! It's not Fultz fault he played in favor of younger talent! Last season was Fultz worst year in a Magic uniform stat wise and coach played him...that idk.
Please don't disappoint us this upcoming season Jamal Mosley with his unquestionable rotations. Goga is better than WCJ, why was he in the dog house?

Re: Markelle Fultz Appreciation Thread
I'm surprised so many people still state as a matter of fact or common knowledge that he suffered a recurrence of an injury last season or his body just didn't hold up. Unless I missed something, I don't believe anything like that was ever reported. Of course that might be what happened, but does anyone know that definitively? Isn't it just as likely that it was a mental thing, like when golfers get the yips? We've seen it with free-throw shooting before, where the player has more time to think about the shot rather than just shoot on muscle memory. There are members of the media in Philly who speculated that was the problem all along. And isn't it a little weird that no one, including Markelle, ever said an injury caused his shot to go completely off the rails last season? In today's game, a PG who literally stops attempting threes with no explanation is not something that happens every day. If it was as simple as "that old shoulder issue" wouldn't someone have said that? Again, I'm not saying it wasn't physical, I'm just saying I'm not aware of any evidence to support that assumption.

When a player gains a following, and they end up sucking, it has everything to do with anything unrelated to their skill set.
Fultz was a decisive figure here, but I don’t know how he couldn’t be considering he was top 2-3 highest paid players on the roster and was of marginal consequence his entire time in Orlando.
The fact he hasn’t signed with anyone yet should tell you everything.
