Clippers Acquire Kris Dunn On Three-Year, $17M Sign-And-Trade; Russell Westbrook To Be Bought Out By Utah

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Jul 18, 2024 6:32 pm

The Los Angeles Clippers have acquired Kris Dunn in a sign-and-trade with the Utah Jazz as they send out Russell Westbrook, a second round pick swap and cash. Westbrook will agree to a buyout with the Jazz for the second time in two years and then join the Denver Nuggets.

Dunn will join the Clippers on a three-year, $17 million deal.

Massive overpay for a G-Leaguer

Jazz should’ve kept Westbrook as trade bait and salary filler. He could also help the team this season if they keep Lauri.

In 8 seasons, Dunn has never finished a season with a win percentage over 39%... And he's been that bad with 5 different teams!

I don't think Westbrook is much good as trade bait anymore. He can still play, but his reputation precedes him.

Kris Dunn should buy Danny Ainge a very expensive car, at the very least. Not bad for a guy who was practically out of the league a few years ago.

Lol but remember multiple commenters like PickledPrunes here who thought they were so smart said it was a bad move by Westbrook opting in and that at most he makes 700k more by opting in and yet they were proven wrong AGAIN. Buyouts aren't subject to offsets and the money sent to Utah in the deal is for over 4 million so even saying Westbrook only gets half on his Buyout he will make roughly 5.3 million this yr (2 +3.3=5.3 since I know math is hard for some of you) and that's saying he only gets 2 million, most reports are saying it's likely the full or close to the full salary which means he could be making up to 7.3 million this yr AND going to the team he wants....but remember a troll who doesn't understand economics said it's bad
