I am not sure if Sarr is bowl-legged enough.

Re: Alex Sarr
No kidding! What a nest of ninnies!
Anybody know what Kevin Durant's 3 pt. % was his rookie year?
28.8%.
How about his 2-point % as a rookie?
45.5%
But, somehow, he must still have had a respectable TS%, right?
51.9%
He also rebounded poorly & turned the ball over a lot. In fact, Kevin Durant was absolutely horrible as a rookie.
Does that mean anything about Alex Sarr's future? Of course not!
Alex Sarr went 0 for 15 last night.

Anecdotal. You should look at the collective body of work of all rookies in the summer league to make an educated guess.
Or just dismiss summer league and be done with it.
Also, guessing if Sarr becomes the 1st option like KD did in his rookie year, he wouldn't sniff those numbers.
Note: I am saying we are seeing where Sarr is now and what he needs to work on.

Re: Alex Sarr
Didn't I see online he had a hand in the outcome in the final stretches of the game? I'm not expecting Sarr to ever be a 20 ppg scorer. At this stage in his game, he's a rim runner. Offense is lacking, but the defense is already there and will only get better. This is not a guy who doesn't have NBA traits. He's got defense, looks like bball IQ, shot blocking.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

Anthony Bennett today, somewhere between Nerens Noel and Christian Woods tomorrow? Alex will look and play a lot better mixed-in with vets, actual offense sets, and a pro PG.

If my statement was anecdotal, what is this one?

Looking at these highlights, Alex took good shots, near the rim and in the flow of the game. They just did not go in...probably for confidence reasons. If he had hit 3 more shots, he would have gone 4/6 (8 points) with 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 1 block (although in the highlights it looks like 2 blocks), which is not bad...

Bennett was never capable of defending anyone.
Wood & Noel had the ability but never the motivation or maturity.
Based on what Sarr showed in the NBL and flashed in SL ... he's an immediate positive contributor defensively and has a chance to be elite on that end.
Offensively he really looked uncomfortable around the basket due to his lack of strength & physicality and his shot needs a lot of work. The passing is a pleasant surprise and I think it speaks to his potential but he's a few years away from actualizing his upside on that end.

When I mention Bennett, I mean high draft pick bust level bad, I am going to toss out some of the bad showing due to the nature of SL.

Agreed.
It will be a big help if he can hone his catch-and-shoot 3-ball over the next 4 months. He can help the team as a disruptive defender so long as he isn't a total liability on offense. Right now, he is a total liability on offense, but if he can just knock down the 3-ball so guys can't cheat off of him, it'll be enough.
It's going to take a lot of time before he can be involved in primary actions on offense. The passing suggests he'll be effective in the short roll in time, but not until he becomes a much better finisher in traffic. Maybe he'll be able to add a pick-and-pop game if the shot continues to improve. I'm not optimistic about his ability as a vertical threat as a rim runner though. His hands are always going to be bad, and he's not really that explosive of a leaper. He'll never be Daniel Gafford as a rim runner.

Re: Alex Sarr
Again, not putting too much weight on SL data. But man, I am getting flashbacks of the Kwame Brown draft right now. We have a top pick, the draft class isn't that good at the top, and our choice wasn't the right choice.

Re: Alex Sarr
Mix him up with the Pros, or send him to the G-League to work for 1/2 a season with specialized attention?

Re: Alex Sarr
Stick with the pros. He needs to run with some skilled players and develop chemistry, not be battling lower level talent (and still struggling). Bigs don't seem to develop in the G league. Guards and wing players do. But Bigs need someone to feed them, not be gunning for stats to get noticed. If he rebounded well then the G League can work, he can make his own offense there. Take the ball upcourt himself. Nope. He needs special attention and good vets. His defense is playable today though, so if he can develop passing chemistry with Valanciunas and a standstill shot he can still help the team.

Agree wholeheartedly.
The issue is, there are only a couple of hundred 7-footers on the planet with the appropriate mobility and age to play in the NBA. The demand is so high that the NBA is drawing from the entire right half of the bell curve. With that the case, the very best 7-footer is WAY better than the 50th percentile 7-footer who is playing in the G-League. If you put Sarr in the G-League, he'll be playing against all those 50-percentile 7-footers and he won't learn much.
There are about 5000 times as many 6-6 guys in the world as 7-footers. So in the NBA, the very best 6-6 guys are 99.999 percentile guys, and the mediocre players in the G-League are still 99.9 percentile guys. They're not that far apart, so the G-League is useful for their development.
