Don't know why we are mentioning Seth, they are very different players. McCain has alot of work to do, but he's not Seth. Seth was an elite shooter in his prime. We don't even know if McCain can shoot yet in the NBA, but on this team he will get plenty of chances for his limited minutes.

I hesitate on McCain cause I would rather have a wing. I'm desperate to have a wing so we can move PG to the 3, but that will have to be a trade now.

Why would anybody want him? I still think he’ll be out of the league in three or four years. He simply not an NBA player.

I'm not watching so I don't know the context, but I checked the box score and McCain is 2 for 10 again. Good lord, man.

Guys. McCain will be added to KJ in a trade come January/February. No need to sweat it.

Because he will just be a salary filler.

I've been looking into who fits our needs and I kept coming back to McCain's salary needing to be added. I really don't see a "win now" team moving quality nba players like Oubre/Martin in an aggregate deal.

Of course, that could change if one or both are failing to fit or if McCain really just flashes potential. As of today, though, it feels like we'll need that $4 mil.

If GSW loses tonight we actually make the playoffs!

::EDIT:: Maybe not; if looks like it would go point differential and GSW would still be higher. Am I reading that right?

Yeah that will probably happen, KJ is totally useless IMO. I don't like players who can't shoot around Jojo, and I don't care if you were born with athleticism and your dad played. Jojo takes enough 2s for any team.

Whenever McCain plays, the shooting will come out. We already traded away Isiah Joe for no reason when all we had to do is wait as he is a natural born shooter. Hopefully we don't give McCain away for nothing as well.

It’s also way more probable that his shooting is more like his college career than this handful of summer league games.

It’s most probable the shooting falls somewhere between the two at the next level. And that isn’t enough given his other attributes (or lack there of).

Most players improve on their 3-pt shooting from college to pro, unless their college numbers were small sample size flukes. Shooting is one of the more developable skills: it’s just our aberrant experience as Sixers fans causes us to forget it.

Both Hawks and Wizards made a mistake passing up Edey and Clingan.

Regarding McCain, I’m very confident that he can be a good shooter throughout his career. What I want to see is how he performs on defense. It's possible that we're trying to make him stronger by adding muscle, which might be affecting his shooting. This reminds me of Kawhi Leonard last season when he shot poorly after gaining muscle during his time off. Eventually, he regained his shooting form and returned to his usual performance.

To me, it’s just not about whether McCain can develop and contribute at 23 in 3 years. Embiid will be walking with a cane by then. It’s whether da Silva would have given us quality minutes at the 4 spot now. If he would have, we screwed up.

I have been burned by the “laziness” allegation towards prospects over and over again. His talent was clearly top ten. It’s good he went right before our pick so we didn’t have to kick ourselves.

Watched some of the game last night, and the kids that keep flashing potential to me are Bona, Edwards, and Aluma. Judah Mintz is an interesting player as well. I don't see it with David Jones, he just seems too chaotic and out of control. Edwards is a kid with real potential to be a classic Morey steal in the draft.

Regarding McCain, it's really easy to doubt him based on much of what we've seen this summer, as he has clanged so many 3's and been out of control at times going to the rim. But that opening C&S corner 3 with the quick release is the tantalizing aspect he could bring in year one. It doesn't seem like the moment is too big for him at all, and the hope is that he can flourish in a more structured smaller role with the big group this fall.

Justin Edwards wasn't impressive the first few games, but I can squint and see a little something in him if they are patient. He's got a little Jabari Parker in him, except he isn't as confident.

I think we need to hold on tightly to Judah Mintz.
