IND Isaiah Jackson to LAL, with MEM

Post#1 » by Syko_boB » Sun Jul 21, 2024 5:22 am

Pacers trade Isaiah Jackson
For Santi Aldama & Christian Wood

With Jackson & Aldama both in their final years, Indy adds a sharpshooting big, or 2, to further solidify their big man depth with more versatility

Turner / Wiseman / Wood
Siakam / Toppin / Aldama
Neismith / Sheppard / Walker
Mathurin / Nembhard / Brown
Haliburton / McConnell

Grizzlies trade Santi Aldama
For Jalen Hood-Shifino & best of 25 LAL or LAC 2nd

Aldama may not have much time should things go right for Memphis healthwise this year, regardless they have plenty guys who play Aldama's role and not much guards
They add JHS to the Pippen Jr camp and see if they can make the best of his cheap deal these next few years, and also add a mid 2nd from the worse LA in 2025

Jackson Jr / Edey
Jackson / Clarke / Diakite
Smart / LaRavia / Konchar
Bane / Williams Jr / Hood-Shifino
Morant / Rose / Pippen Jr

Lakers trade Christian Wood, Jalen Hood-Shifino & best of 25 LAL or LAC 2nd
For Isaiah Jackson

LA struggled with rebounding, and Isaiah seems like the kind of guy that can help with that
Maybe not the greatest fit but they get somebody with a skill you can't teach

Davis / Jackson / Hayes
James / Hachimura
Vanderbilt / Christie / Reddish
Reaves / Knecht / Lewis
Russell / Vincent / James Jr

I have Aldama as significantly more valuable than Jackson. He's a good roleplayer who could probably start for several teams. Jackson is a bench guy. Feels WAY too good for the Pacers, meh for the Lakers, and terrible for Memphis.

Memphis has no need for JHS and are actually rather strong at guard but thin in the frontcout.

I think each team prefers their own guy. Jackson looked really good in limited playoff minutes. He's only 22, protects the rim, cleans up around the paint and has good length.

Aldama is good in other ways, and always Memphis to play 4 out with Ja attacking hard.

This is the Lakers robbing both teams slightly to make a good young player with potential appear out of this air. Wood/JHS are negative, and few 2nds doesn't change that.

Aldama has been misgendered by OP here if I may use trendy analogies

Jackson will never get more than limit playoff minutes, though.

Please don't (analogies are fine, just please don't use this one as it's kind of annoying to have something my partner and friends experience pretty regularly trivialized).

No interest from Memphis he is the best player and projects to be the best one moving forward. Bigs who can Dribble, pass snd shoot are hard to come by.

Indiana has money trouble signing Turner next summer. I don't think we can afford to move iJax since we could lose Myles.

This deal would put Indy into the tax, I believe, and Indy still apparently is prioritizing re signing James Johnson for the 15th spot for the locker room.

As is, Santi is he better player overall, but Jackson is the better defender, which Indy needs at the bigs, with Wiseman and Toppin both being offensively talented and defensively flawed big men. I personally see Indy and Memphis not necessarily having the strongest feelings for this deal.
