There’s no wings or forwards that have really blown me away on the Summer League team though.

And Huff, while he’s played well, would be like 5th in line at center and also the oldest center on the roster (think about that!)

I just think Mac is an NBA player. I guess they could sign somebody else from another summer league roster.

I stand corrected. Moe Wagner is a few months older than Jay Huff.

Wendell and Goga are both younger.

Queen is 27. FO favors older two way players who have experience.

We had a PF, SF, and PG walk.
We added SG, SF, and G

We don’t really develop our two way players.

Last season had a combo guard, swingman, and combo forward.

Our positional depth is pretty similar to last season but not exactly so. Fultz was a combo guard, Ingles a small forward, and Okeke a combo forward and we replaced them with KCP, a shooting guard, TDS, a combo forward, and Joseph, a PG.

Which is all to say I have no idea. Probably versatile defenders like last season.

Will AB and Jett play today in the consolation game? I saw they practiced yesterday.

Queen fit the role the team needed at that time.

What the Magic needs next year is a player, the level of a CJ McCollum to come here and take the MLE. The Warriors had that with Iguodala. The Bucks had that with Brook Lopez.

how was Fultz a combo guard?

Lets look the Cleveland series and 1st quarter substitution patterns. In Game 1 he subs in for Harris, Game 2 he subs in for Suggs, in Game 3 he subs in for Harris, in Game 4 he subs in for Harris, in Game 5 he subs in for Harris, in Game 6 he subs in for WCJ, in Game 7 he subs in for Harris.

Then you look at Play-by-Play stats on B-R and he's 59% at PG and 41% at SG in the regular season, and 42% at PG and 58% at SG in the playoffs.

So he's a combo guard.

Those Basketball Reference PxP stats don’t really mean anything IMO.

Fultz is a combo guard because of his skill set above all else.

Eh, I'll push back a bit. They use lineup data, height, and statistical weighting to estimate positional estimates. It is as good an indicator for position that I know of, anyway. Is it precise? No, but nothing on the topic of positions really is.

I just need one more announcement for the off-season. Suggs extended.

It's a bit worrisome that Suggs extension is not being announced yet. The 2 sides must be far apart on price.
Not changing this Sig until the Orlando Magic win a championship (Technically Started 1-30-08)

They have until October to get it done.

And if it doesn't get done, he just goes into restricted free agency next summer and the Magic have matching rights. So I'm not too worried about it.

Suggs plays with his emotions on his sleeve. I don’t want him feeling slighted by the Magic.

I would much prefer avoiding a long drawn out process.

Suggs should be treated as a key core member.

I wonder if his agent is asking for the max

That’s a good question. That would be a problem because he isn’t a max player.

My guess he is asking for 35 million a year the same as Quickly and the FO is offering something closer to 27 million a year.

Return to Orlando Magic
