Were they? They had the worst point differential in the league by a pretty good margin. Worse than a team that lost 28 games in a row (whom they lost to 3 times last year).

Fair enough. I only saw them in spurts so each time I watched it seemed like they were competitive. That doesn't mean much since teams can suck and have runs, which I must have caught at those random times.

Biggest thing stopping teams liek CHA and many more is money...it is the #1 issue for most teams.

You have teams like Chicago that have Cheap owners that wont spend to win
-You have to want to "Willingly" spend the tax to win championships and Reinsdorf never will
You have teams like Charlotte, Washington, etc that wont spend to "build a superteam"
-i'd alsomsot guarantee that their only current "all-star" LaMelo will be off that team within the next 3 years
-Brandon Miller one of the only other ones with potential likely off that team by 2029

Look at "nearly" all the recent winners...Warriors (ridiculous payroll), Lakers (ridiculous payroll), so on and so forth....you gotta HAVE money and want to SPEND money to win championships. We've followed suit of the MLB where the rich teams win and the poor teams coast.

This doesn’t really seem like the problem to me. Getting to the part where we cheap out on star players and lose them would be a step we have yet to even achieve lol. We can’t even get guys that are worth spending on. RealGM actually graded us a fail for not super maxing Kemba, which would have been a disaster. Hell, him signing our lowball offer would have been a disaster. We need the talent first

That is only half of what I'm saying though, you need to have multiple talents...sure you can have Kemba and max him out, that's easy. You did that with LaMelo as well, but then what? Where's Robin? Where's C, D, E? You can't have just one guy to win, you gotta spend the MONEY to get those guys and places like Charlotte don't have the money (not a destination like a LA, NY, MIA) and don't spend the money on big names. Realy hoping that all that changes with the new 1st and 2nd apron rules, but we'll see. In my opinion it will just always be very rare for a small market team to win championships unless they luck into a "quick built roster" - Milwaukee drafting Giannis, Middleton and Parker (moving Parker and others to acquire the true 3rd piece) or Denver drafting Murray, Porter and Jokic and others (moving said others for Gordon)

I don’t get what you mean, who are we supposed to money on? Everybody has the same max deal to hand out so no big name is ever going to just sign here.

The only route to contention for teams like us is drafting, free agency is not a viable path toward efficient roster improvement. Every signing we make is an overpaying gamble on guys like Hayward/Batum/Rozier that you hope have more gears left (which they never do) because those are the guys available

Trade market is no longer a viable improvement path toward stars either thanks to guys like Ainge that have basically set the price for low end all stars at your entire collection of assets plus some

There is nowhere to spend this hypothetical money you think we are cheaply holding that can improve the roster lol

At best, mediocrity. Maybe a play in. Doesn't help when we draft a guy like Dijon salmon with clingan on the board. To be honest it's hard to not say to hell with the hornets and just switch teams to the spurs or something. Atleast they have a great history and are going to be back on the come up. The hornets basketball experiment in Charlotte has failed at every level. Maybe Taj Gibson will save the day sitting on the bench pretending he haslem. 8 guards and 2 of them are nba players. Its just goes on and on. Almost everything that isn't brandon miller is horrible. Melo is a chump non playing diva. Ugh the team is so fn gross why do I even bother?

Hornets are on a nice upwards trajectory right noe that is just getting started. The things that have held the Hornets back the last 2 seasons are injuries, the Bridges crap, the Atkinson Crap, and more injuries. They have a nice young core with 2 or more potential all-NBA players 22 years old or younger.

Need health and defense. This roster has less holes 1-15 than in years past.

Yeah, I’m not really sure where you guys were supposed to spend your money either. I get that Jordan was cheap but I don’t see a clear place you could have pushed all-in during his tenure. Tax spending is a chicken/egg thing. All of the teams that spend into the tax already had a true #1 title option on their team. Maybe Jordan cheaped out in other areas like coaching, development, etc (I don’t really know, I don’t follow the Hornets closely) but there weren’t a lot of years that justified big spending. Most teams have to reach a competitive tipping point of being a contender to spend into the tax. The Hornets never got anywhere close to this line because they were incompetent elsewhere (hopefully this will change under new ownership). Not a lot of owners are going to foot a tax bill when your best player is Kemba Walker.

Another reason the spurs dynasty is so impressive, they managed to win 5 while staying under the cap mostly, and when they did go over it was well, well below what rivals were spending ... Lol knicks and clippers

Hornets seem to be moving in the right direction but you can't buy health

You forgot his redacted tweet claiming that it's just acne and lip filler in that photo to make her look that way.
