Put this in the huge win column - one, what everyone’s mentioning about it being less than expected.

And two it also is less of an albatross if he somehow falls apart like many of these guys have (Bertans, Robinson etc) and become real albatrosses. Really protects their downside.

Outside of Jordan Walsh looking mediocre at summer league or some pie in the sky fantasy happening their offseason has totally crushed it.

He can get up to 4yrs/$78M. Celtics might have to let this one go?
Can he do better elsewhere as a UFA, after this Season?

Anyone paying Hauser more than 12 million a year is whacked imo. I live the guy but I truly don’t see him getting more from another team. I don’t think he gets anywhere close to 4/78.
Dude is a very solid rotation piece and I hope the Ca extend him, but at 4/48 or more…that’s a bad contract imo. The only purpose of that would be trade ballast….which maybe is something the front office is thinking about.
I’m still laying my money on 4/30 to 4/40 and wouldn’t be surprised to see a 3 year deal.

I was a bit low….but I am sure this post helped the negotiations.

Good deal! Love this is done and will be inked before the Celtics have a chance to be sold. The funny thing is, I wouldn't say the team is future proofed from being gutted in future cost cutting, but with the CBA I also expect it to be much more difficult to offload players and dump salaries without being able to trade with aggregated salaries and 30th picks haha.

Love you, Brad.

These (Hauser and White) will be really good contracts in a couple years…very tradeable. Even Jrue will be.

We'll have a bunch of guys with lots of market value. And when we make a deal, we'll be trading for less salary so there won't be a need to aggregate.

I'm basically sold on the idea they decided to just sign/extend everyone because they know the deals will be very tradeable down the road.

I think the wrong way to look at this summer is "they're totally committed to this core beyond next year".

Ditto. Though he’d get 13M a year, maybe 15M.

Sammy won't even be to $6M in career earnings after this coming year's pay.

So getting clever about turning down $45M in the hand for some possible future greater figure a year later really isn't a very sound risk to take.

So did I, with how bad Scheierman was this SL, I thought he’d get closer to his max extension

Looks like I'm in the minority again.. Didn't think he would get more than ten million per.. Personally, I think all sides win with this one..
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

I said all along 4 years and $48 million. Not surprised at 45 million. Enjoy this year, after next year players are going to be moved in my opinion.

How do you break up a back to back championship team?

I haven’t looked just exactly how bad the tax is, but if they can fit the bill you’ve got to see what kind of damage you can do in the next two years.

Horford/KP/Jrue could - any or all - fall off the cliff in two years but imo got to see if you can win multiple titles in the ‘24-‘26 time period.

I actually thought Hauser was going to get more than that. His high was 4yrs/$78M.
I was thinking $12 - 15/yr.

Great news. Congrats Hauser on getting a contract that should set him and his family up for life and congrats Stevens on locking down a good NBA player and great fit on an under market long term deal.

He is in the range of a mle player and he got it, he didn't get a lot of money so he wanted to secure a big contract.
People were losing their minds thinking he was a 16-18 mill per year player, the NBA isn"t in that point yet you just need to chech some of the contracts that mid class players got this summer, mid class players are the most harmed by the new CBA.

If Brad were able to get him to sign an extension on the duck boat he probably could have gotten him real cheap. Lucky for Sam he was allowed to sober up first.
