If we can grab a guy like Tyus Jones or Fultz or Precious with a minimum contract…..hell yes that is worth the wait. I think Oshai Brissett is better than anyone on SL roster.

Now Springer, Walsh, Baylor and Queta are all locked up and I think Queta at least has the potential to help a lot. Maybe Springer or Walsh can replace Brissett off the bench well enough. However, none of them is likely to be a reliable contributor come playoff time this year.

Dallas got Derrick Jones Jr last year on a minimum and this year seems like more guys like him are going to get screwed out of a fair paycheck due to new salary cap rules. I’d much rather that spot get filled by a legit player than another G-leaguer. If we can get a quality NBA player on a vet minimum then that is option #1 for me.

Sounds nice but DJJ went to Dallas because he was being given a chance to compete for a *starting* position, which he got..he was starting for them in the NBA finals. They had basically no wings when they signed him.

Oubre signed for the minimum w/ Philly because he had a legit chance to start for them - and he did.

Gary Trent jr signed for the min with the Bucks..he'll start for them. Theis signed for the min with pelicans - he'll probably start for them.

Boston is in a vastly different position. Sounds nice in theory to just go ahead, snap your fingers and sign the best available veteran wing to a dirt cheap minimum contract but we have two all-NBA caliber players for wings, plus Hauser. Our top 8 guys are set in stone. Our top 10 guys off last year's team are all back.

Whoever the best available vet FA is, will likely sign somewhere he can get more playing time.

The last guy we signed last summer was Lamar Stevens and Svi.

Last guys we signed the year before that was Griffin, Vonleh and Justin Jackson.

I'm not expecting a big FA signing this summer..

Spots 11-15 aren't gonna make much of a difference on our title chances anyways. You win or lose a title based on how good your top 7 or 8 guys are. So I'm fine with developing our young guys (watson, scheierman, walsh, springer, queta) for those end of bench spots, so we can develop them into players who down the road are as good (or even better) than those vet min FA guys you're clamoring for..

I mean, most of the guys on the list of top available FA right now are basically one phone call away from signing with an overseas team (except for Tyus). Pat Bev jus signed with a team in Israel. Jabari Parker and both Hernangomez brothers and Kendrick Nunn all enjoyed success overseas last season..There were rumors that Theis aas considering signing with an overseas team before he just signed with the Pelicans. Svi was *this* close to signing with a European team last year before he signed with BOS. It's not like there is any guys left in free agency who would be a huge difference maker.

And we're probably the last team that would sign Tyus, since we have more PG depth than basically every team in the league.

Lastly, these bottom of the barrel FA (and their agents) saw what happened last year when Banton and Stevens got way more playing time after being traded from BOS and Brissett says in interviews that he wants to go to a team where he can play more so they don;t want to come here..

Although, I would argue that Baylor, averaging 5 rebounds and 3 assists this Summer League, is
likely to be a better rebounder and facilitator than Herro...

I'd say more like Austin Reaves. But his lack of foot speed is kinda worrying me.

I do really like his demeanor though and wondering if this jumbled summer league experience is part of the issue. I think he actually would be much more effective playing with our core. Right now a lot of his anticipation skills aren't being accessed because other players are playing in a chaotic manner.

Brissett remains undecided as well, and they'd bring him back. As roster spots diminish around the league, the longer it goes with talent still looking for a home, the larger the chance they land someone that can help. And the longer it goes, the more they learn about their own young guys.

There's very little pressure to make an immediate move.

Oshae had his value, but I really disagree about this summer league roster. I think by the time it matters (the playoffs in the spring) both Queta and at least one of the rooks or Springer will be useful playoff bench rotation players--and probably more of what Brad and Joe are looking for than Oshae provided this year.

Walsh is useless at this point, and it would be good to have his spot to both tie up Watson for 4 years AND have the 15th slot available. I think if Watson has a great game today, Brad might be tempted to give him the 15th slot and realize he'd have to drop or trade someone if he needed to bring another player in.

Also, we'll see how it goes, but by next summer JD will likely be a useful guard option and the two rooks will be solid bench wing/swings. At this point, Al, Sam, Jaden, and, given what he's shown so far, Jordan, will all roll off the roster and the second-aproned C's will be glad to add and move all three up their bench to cheap and allowable rotation roles.

Sam signed long term: The bar is now raised a bit on Rico, Gino and Drew for minutes. (And Walsh is left in the dust.)

For this game my top priority would be to see BS get way more involved with creating an offense from his position..

And if I see Jordan Walsh attempting to do way too much then it is definitely on coaching..

Dang.. How do I forget to mention Watson
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

scheierman just doesnt look like an NBA athlete. he'll have to completely change the way he plays to make it in the nba.

C'mon Jordan..you can't let Edwards (the shooter) beat you to that rebound..

Again Watson is getting great looks from 3 but he needs to show more consistency.. I will not judge his makes all misses but rather how close every shot is.. I just don't want to see bricks

Horrible pass by Walsh out of the PnR.

Really disappointing SL for him.

I know Boston isn't using a point guard but at this point players have to move better without the ball to help that situation..

0/2 so far from 3 for Watson..was close on both shots. And 1 of them was off movement..he's not a movement shooter. Neither is Al..

I'm not worried..

I'd also like to see Watson get down on the block against some smaller players and show me what he can do from that area.

That 3 that Watson hit looked good..shot it with confidence, no hesitation. And fired it right into the bucket.
