People were losing their minds thinking he was a 16-18 mill per year player, the NBA isn"t in that point yet you just need to chech some of the contracts that mid class players got this summer, mid class players are the most harmed by the new CBA.
I didn't ever weigh in on an amount because it's mostly folly. Had Hauser signed for $15 million a year, posters would have compared the Strus and Duncan Robinson contracts ( 15.5 million per and 18 million per respectively.) With contract values exploding, why couldn't he have gotten what similar players got years ago with a smaller salary cap?
The answer is that we don't. It's kind of like a gender reveal party "I KNEW it was a girl." So those who were close can take a victory lap, but we're really mostly guessing.
Now that the result is here, unless Hauser regresses, it is an excellent contract . You pay him minimum money this season. A lot can happen with ownership this season. The reality is that his contract is very tradeable. In an era of 2nd aprons and devastating impact of money and restrictions on what you can trade, the Celtics, once again, did well here.
