I don't understand how we got all that Jalen freaking McDaniels but we can't get anything for Boucher.

We need to trade Siakam for AJ Griffin before it's too late! - PhilBlackson

Cap space is king.

McDaniels had no value, the Raps were just willing to absorb more money coming back.

It makes me wonder if they misjudged by picking up Brown. No Brown and no GTJ means they could have charged teams for salary relief whereas the market for Brown seems very uncertain.

It's not a question of if. I think we did misjudge picking up Brown. I think there was an assumption that Brown's expiring would be valued and we could extract some value out of him. And I know people are saying that we have to wait until the trade deadline (LMAO, the goal posts kept moving from the day free agent signings can begin, to when the George/Thompson/etc... situations settle, to when Summer League starts, to trade deadline now), but let's be real with ourselves -- Masai gambled that Brown could be turned into something good, but it hasn't materialized.

Like you, I would rather have not picked up Brown. It would have been awesome to be a team that has the flexibility to absorb a bad contract while collecting assets (picks and/or young controllable players with potential). Oh well... maybe next season?

They still have the option of doing that with Brown. You trade his expiring for deals that still have 2-3 years left that teams want to get out of and pick up and asset or two. But it's really hard to figure out what management's end game with him is.

lol. 30/20/10 would be a wild line. I had to check the boxscore only to be disappointed with his 6 point game.

His defense was as advertised.

Love his toughness and tenacity.

Only 21 and if he can improve his shooting, he'll be a very good player for years to come.

I hope this isn't like when Swirsky picked Bargs as ROY over Rose. I want to know how Bobby voted.

Perhaps over Tyrus Thomas, Adam Morisson :)

Man that draft was so bad, Aldridge was the only franchise guy in top 10. OK, Brandon Roy too if not for injuries.

At this point? Brown in the starting 5 rebuilding his value and helping Scottie is the end game. If Raps were to ever get competitive faster the end game might be Brown a Raptor indefinitely just like Poetl. Poetl is on a good contract and Brown might represent a 2025 ufa acquisition that had an audition.

This conversation is hilarious. Another RealGm fetish - undersized point guards who look good in summer league. I'm not even going to mention the undersized jokester point guard from last year who this board was oed about.

He plays bigger than his size which is a good sign. We aren't expecting him to be a worldly talent on offense. His shot is broken and he hasn't fixed it in 4 years. The idea is that maybe it was due to fatigue, he's a stocky guy that played big minutes. If he comes off the bench for 10-15 minutes he should bring defensive energy and have the legs to hit from long range.

Bulldog defenders that can't shoot aren't very valuable in the NBA right now, but I don't think he was ever slotted as a starter at his ceiling. I'm not crazy at his potential upside, but might be a change of pace type PG off the bench to gave different defensive options against faster guards. Maybe he was picked that low because that's what everyone saw in him and our staff saw more? We'll see.
