Yeah that’s cool, but we are talking about a dude that everyone assumes is going to be a max player, and balancing the roster might require trading players like Allen who had a better season than him last year.

Look, if yes shooting 5 or 6 3’s a game next year at a decent clip then this will be a moot point but as of now there hasn’t been that kind of development offensively.

Trey may not have the ceiling Mobley has but he has shown more consistent progression in his game.

There are only two centers in the NBA who average more than four 3pa pg and offer any type of rim protection. Turner and Porzingis. If that's what you want that's who you should be targeting.

That’s why it’s an either or as I said in my earlier post. If he’s a 4, then he doesn’t enough 3’s ( and 3-4 won’t cut it) or he’s a 5, and he doesn’t need to shoot any 3’s but he will need to bulk up.

If the Cavs are keeping Allen then Mobley needs to shoot to justify the max.

I suggested a swap of picks in this one. Based on last year’s standings, it would mean a move from #29 to #23.

No fantasies here.

NOP's pick is lottery protected for 2 years then converts to 2 2nds. You still making the deal as Brooklyn?

The difficulty with lottery protections is that a couple unlucky bounces in the play-in could result in Brooklyn trading a 1st and Dayron Sharpe for 2 2nds.

I would be happy with top 10 protections but maybe it’s cleaner without the pick swap.

Something like Dayron and a 2nd for the NOP 1st top 20 protected 2025, lotto protected 2026?

It has to be a swap, not a trade of picks.

I'm not sure it's ever been done before, but given how many picks the Nets and Pels have, a pick swap using the worst of that's no more than a 10 pick difference (or some other agreed upon #) could be an interesting set up. Or just a straight swap of worst of Nets picks (MIL/NYK/PHX/HOU/OKC) for worst of NOP/LAL pick. Odds are both NOLA and LAL won't be lottery bound.

Pelicans get a young center who’s an elite rebounder without having to move any core players.

It might not be enough for Brooklyn but there’s upside if something goes wrong in New Orleans.

The only team who might offer a protected first for an expiring Sharpe is the Pelicans. If they don't, no one is. The idea that he could return an unprotected first in next year's draft is pure fantasy.

He'll be an RFA right? I could easily see a team offering a late 1st for him. That could be unprotected if the team is good enough (essentially protected by the roster). NO's shaky enough they'd put some actual protection though (but not get the other pick back).
