There's not much to be optimistic about the last three top draft picks. All have minimal basketball skills. All are athletic. Johnson is 19, but he's lacking ball handling skills necessary for a point guard, lacking a shot and the iq stuff is questionable.

The good news is that next season was always going to be defined, as it was this season. by If the top three are healthy. No one on the squad in summer league will help, with the possible exception of Livingston, who surprised me with his bball decisions. Could be Crowder-lite.

Last year in Summer League, we had a bunch of people on this board convinced Wemby was going to be a bust.

Summer League means nothing, but I still watch because I like basketball.

yep... i watched the first half of the first game and then looked at boxes just because. i love basketball but not enough to watch pickup games that arent even pickup games more like showcase ball.

optimistic about aj just in the sense that its beyond clear to me hes definitely a basketball player. gives me the brandon jennings vibe.....but besides that what conclusion is there to draw? give him a season at least. hes gonna have high highs and low lows. its an investment

Wing sized and not soft Jennings. Kid is going to be electric.

It feels like the team has treated the last few summer leagues as if they're noon ball games at some random Y gym. Just a disorganized mess. We were 0-5 and had a negative -18.0 ppg Diff, the worst of any team.

I think the organization should be embarrassed. You'd like to hope Doc would have organized and run this thing. But I think he went back to golfing with Larry David after a day one appearance.

Appears to be a typo.

Friday 7/19 vs. Phoenix : 4/12 FG, 3/7 3PT
Saturday 7/20 vs. Washington: 0/12, 0/7 3PT

4/24 really isn't a ton better than 1/21..but, its better.

Legitimate question, how many head coaches run Summer League? I know Griff did last year but I assumed that was because he needed the experience. I feel like when I watch other teams none of them are run by anyone noteworthy
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

Seems like my idea of drafting both Kolek and Oso was the safest play ever posted here, in order to have high floor start from your rookies.

No way on earth would I rather have Kolek over AJ Johnson **** the high floor for rookies. We need to hit on some potential star players the free agents we got this year will take care of the play this year.

I am the GM who usually drafts the youngest player in the draft class if I see something elite in him ..
Hartenstein was the youngest in his draft class
Hamidou Diallo was the youngest in his draft class
Thon was young (before the age research)

This year I was ALL IN on Cameron Christie who is one of the youngest in the draft ....

Then concept of success is to draft a player that is worth of resigning. A player who doesn't look like he is overpaid even on 2nd,3rd rookie contract deal (Marjon, DJ Wilson etc).

For AJ Johnson my main concern predraft was his shooting. No1 priority is to become an 80+ FT shooter. He is MCW if he doesn't. I love his length/speed combo, I am getting warmer with his Kyrie like spin lay ups, BUT nothing matters if he can't hit his FTs and his 3s.

By your standards we never draft Brogdon for example. I really liked Desmond Bane predraft, I called it that he is a Brogdon with a quick release... many here did not like him cause of his short wingspan....

Kolek has high potential to become a Kennard a Brogdon type of career which is quite good. His playmaking skills, court vision, shooting can't disappear. He will probably adjust to the NBA faster than anyone on his class.

AJ looks like a legit high upside prospect and arguably the most gifted talent we've drafted since Giannis. It's going to be rough in year 1 but I'm pretty **** optimistic for years 2, 3, etc.

Livingston looks like a potential rotation piece this season, or possibly next season.

It's frustrating that the organization seems to not care whatsoever about Summer League, but the above two things make me not as salty about it.

We're gonna be ~10 deep this upcoming season, so MarJon being an abomination and AJ/Tyler needing a year or two to develop isn't a big deal.imo

In one of the scouting reports I read the fact he wasn't a good shooter. Not surprised.

To be fair, golfing with Larry David would probably be way more fun than trying to coach a team with Vin Baker Jr. as your 2nd big.

AJ looked tired both physically and mentally. it's a bummer to see him perform that way but we saw flashes and that's a good start.

I still want to know what the hell happened with Dominguez.

The cameras never panned over to the Bucks coaching area in the first half and come the second, word comes down that Pete wasn't on the bench/peaced out to Binions/had to settle some "business."

Any clue what went down? Wrong answers only.

Not impossible, but contradicted by previous four gameday follicular conditions. Or was it?

Was Pete Dominguez the Adrian Griffin of Summer League coaches? Would be kinda hilarious if the organization made a collective "yeah....we've seen enough" decision at halftime and he just decided to not even finish out the game.

THIS IS WHAT THE QUESTION BAGS (sp?)

Is the body of Pete Dominguez moldering among the sagebrush and cacti is some thing few doth voice allowed but I am willing to ponder the imponderable. Did Jimmy Hamslam demand results and the results (0 for 5) were deemed not up to "stuff."

Lasry and/or Edens (can't keep them straigh)t: palmolive-handed big coastal elites, unwilling to pull the Band-aid off
Jimmy Hamslam: a man of convictions (checks the teletype), er, not as of yet is what I'm finding on PAVER

Curious as to why you think AJ looks like a high upside prospect? His ballhandling is suspect, as is his shooting. He finished well in a couple games but not so much the last few. He is fast and 19.

Giannis, as we all know, is a special case, but even then he showed special traits for someone that big.

I hope you're right, but other than athleticism, not sure what everyone sees. Does the emperor have no clothes? What is he wearing? Do the masses just want to feel good about something?

I heard something about an hastily-scheduled hostage trade out in the desert.
