Looks like that shuts the door on Man U getting Branthwaite.

I don’t think he is going to fulfill expectations at United.
Decent striker but paying 50+ is crazy.

Re: Transfer Thread 24/25
Still young. I think they are buying on potential. Seems to be the theme this year. Buy good young players and hope they turn world class. I'm excited for how aggressive they have been.
I'm thinking like 12 goals and 8 assist this year. Not amazing but a good start. He plays well just outside the box and should set up Hoijland more if they play together. Great feet and his tall frame should help in the box and be more physical. What ManU lacks.

A fantastic signing for Villa. Adds much needed aerial ability and defensive crunch.
Added bonus of keeping Branthwaite away from Man U

The Reds have done it. Signing a potential world class player in Yoro. Well done.

A LOT of money for a largely unproven young player with 1 year remaining on his contract.
May turn out to be a fantastic player, just thought a lot of $$ with his contract situation

He is going to be a great player in two-three years.
Best CB prospect for sure.
As always with United the question is whether they give him enough time to reach his potential before becoming impatient.

my favorite player last season in Serie A. He was huge for Bologna as they qualified for Champions League for the first time since the 1960s. He can score and assist, high IQ striker.
I fear United may ruin him, but those fears aside, he should become a star.

You guys should have new faith in MAN U this season. Over 10 years of fluff after Fergies reign.
Feels like a brand new team and competent minority owners and front office leading the charge.
Ugarte next and De Ligt later? Lots of selling to happen, let's see what happens.

Re: Transfer Thread 24/25
Diaby being sold for €60 mill, sad to see him go because I like him as a player but in a way he didn’t fit in at villa. We bought him probably as an insurance because of Baileys poor form a couple seasons ago, however Bailey completely changed his game and has been one of our better players. Diaby has been good in bits but I felt that if we could improve on where we play him we’ll do it. We’ve made some profit on him as well which is great. Better than selling Ramsey or someone like that.
Joao Felix is likely the replacement as he can suit our system better. Felix can play behind Watkins as a SS, hopefully Emery can get some consistency from him. I’d love for us to get Ademola Lookman if we can’t get Felix, he can do a similar job.
I still expect us to be partially busy in the next week or so. (Diaby replacement, another possible forward maybe and a CB) We still have some players to possibly move on like Carlos, Cash, Dendoncoker and some of our youth players are likely to leave with buy back clause options into their contracts (like Philogene).

Not sure about Felix for Villa. He's flattered to deceive for a long time. I think there are better value options for them.
I'm sure Emery can coax something out of him, but I'm not convinced.

I agree and am also concerned that he's been so obsessed with playing for Barcelona, that any other club is treated as a stepping stone for him. He hasn't felt fully committed to being anywhere but Barca...
I do know that Emery has wanted him since he arrived at Villa and sees him as a perfect fit for the way he wants to play. I think if we do get him, if he doesn't perform under Emery, it will never happen for him. I think Emery can make it work and if it does, it's been a great window for us so far. Onana, Maatsen, Felix (?), plus some promising young talent in the door.
Just need to move Duran (next 1-2 weeks maybe), Dendonker, and likely either Moreno or Digne. Maybe one or 2 others out also (Diego Carlos if they find another CB - other I do like Carlos)

Personally I’d rather Lookman but I’ll trust Emery on this one. Felix is talented don’t get me wrong but he’s struggled with consistency. He’ll cost a lot of money also which is where the risk comes in.

Kinda similar to Havertz.
Keeps getting dealt for absurd sums but the value on the pitch is maybe half of what he cost.

Good comparison!
How do you think Maximilian Beier would do in the premier league? He’s another guy we’ve been linked with recently

I haven’t seen enough of Villa to accurately comment whether he fits your squad.
Beier is a really good talent. Shame he plays for a soulless club like Hoffenheim.
He is still young, though, so not sure how much time he is going to need to adjust to a new country.
I think currently he would be best suited for a team that is a bit more focused on counter attacks.
You could sign Max Moerstedt, too.
He is 3 years younger than Beier.
Hoffenheim won the German U19 championship in dominant fashion last season. He is going to end up a very good player, too, 3-4 years down the road.

Spurs looking at Dominic Solanke. Not sure what to think about him, he's a decent player and has improved the last year or two, but I feel like Bournemouth will ask for a premium and he isn't worth anything above 30-40m imo.
