Was watching some YouTube vids of Sengun and this particular vid immediately brought up an interesting fact about Sengun and his numbers (includes our frenemy Julius Randle). That pic they used of Randle lol. But this is an interesting take on Sengun.

Some people just hate Randle so much they would want to make the Knicks worse just so Randle isn’t here.
Can’t help but wonder why that is. I don’t think they’re genuinely mad about the thumbs down or the slapping laptop thing, both from years ago now. Could be because their favorite kid(many examples) got moved instead of him. But I think more than anything they just don’t want to be wrong after everything they’ve said about him over the years. If we ever did win the championship with him on the roster, I’m quitting work and taking an entire summer off to pull receipts. So they can’t even root for us to win. Sad!

Sengun would be next level for real. I’d pay their asking price and I can’t help but wonder if Houston wouldn’t love some Dubious Handles for their playoff run…

I don't think Knicks fans would cheer the return of Chuck & Co., as they were never ones to give us even coverage. I'm all for seeing who Amazon might choose to call its games and provide analysis. I'd love to listen to a crew who don't think of Knicks fans as an appropriate target for their often surly comments.

Eh, truth be told, I feel like the same could be said about Randle fans too. Don't you guys want to be right about everything you've said about Randle, after all that time? Now that we're a team gunning for a championship, there's no more washing over his mistakes or making excuses for him or whatever. It's not about the thumbs down or the Obi or whatever. It's basically this: Now that we are seeking a championship, Julius Randle is a risk.
Randle has been here since 2019. This is more than enough time to establish who he is as a player, that he can contribute to a championship team. Jalen Brunson came for 2 years and settled all doubts. By this time, the truth of the matter is, Julius Randle should be more celebrated than Jalen Brunson, who showed up two seasons ago. He really should be the franchise guy by now. He had an awesome 2020-2021 season and brought us to the playoffs, when we were down. He really was the first one to take a discounted contract, before Brunson did it. At the end of the 2020-2021 season, Julius Randle basically had the path laid out for him to be the MAN.
We can blame a lot of factors for why his trajectory got derailed, like injury, mental health, him having a baby, teammates, fans booing him, or whatever, but the truth of the matter is, after five years, it's on Randle. It's always been on Randle.

Again, we saw in high leverage situations that the Knicks without Randle lacked a real threat to create if Brunson didn't have it going at an elite level.
Going into a post season with Brunson, Mikal, DDV and OG as your main creators dooms you to a good but not good enough team IMO.
Looking around the league all of the best teams have 2 guys at the very least who can be deemed a borderline all star level offensive creator:
Boston - Tatum, Brown, Porzingis, and Holiday
Indiana - Haliburton and Siakam
Philly - Embiid, Maxey and PG
Milwaukee - Giannis and Dame
Cleveland - Mitchell and Garland
Miami - Butler, Bam and Herro
And that's just the East...While Brunson can go toe to toe with all of the 1's in that scenario, Mikal simply just isn't on most of those number 2's or even some of the 3's level on offense. Randle, at his best, can compete with the Maxey's, Siakam's and Brown's of the world offensively. Getting rid of Randle would leave the Knicks with the old saying of "you're showing up to a gun fight with a knife".. You can win but, you would just have to thread so many needles on the margins to make it work at a championship level. While we were able to outwork Philly on the edges, we then would have needed everything to go right just to get a chance to play Boston and that obviously didn't work...
If you move Randle you HAVE to target guys that are on or close to the level of those number 2's and they can't be small because of Brunson. It's a really small group of dudes and that's why I think the Knicks will ultimately just keep Randle and either extend this year (hopefully) or just pinch their nose and give him the big extension next summer and figure it out later. It's the devil you know vs. the one you don't.
A Randle trade that makes sense for both sides is just so complicated and hard to find that I don't think it's a worthwhile exercise right now.
100% agreed. Some of these trade proposals where the Knicks move Randle and get back a gaggle of bench players is ludicrous. An example was the Knicks moving Randle to Dallas to give the Mavs a "Big 3" and all the'd be getting back is a backup C, a backup PF and a 3rd string SG. And the rationale was even more hilarious. Reason was the Knicks would want to move this cause of the age old "there won't be enough balls and touches for Randle in NY". And yet somehow there'd be balls and touches in Dallas where Doncic and Kyrie touch the ball more than just about anyone else in the NBA.
+1 here as well
That's why the only trades I've endorsed are ones that involve guys that are (or can be) 20+ pt scorers. Sengun, KAT and JJJ. I'm not trading Randle for Cam fricken Johnson or whoever that Nets player is lol
We may not all agree on KAT but you can't argue he is a gifted offensive big man who shoots 40% on 3s. He'd also be surrounded by some really excellent defensive players either when he plays 4 or the 5.

Are we hearing any more rumors that Sengun might be available?

I'm too lazy to search, but have we talked about Mathias Lessort? Could he be a useful multipurpose PF/C backup if the Knicks can't find anyone else?

He's not available. Next rumor...
However, according to Rockets general manager Rafael Stone, it's pretty safe to cross him off the list of potential centers that New York could trade for. In Stone's words, Sengun will not be traded this offseason.
