Re: Prospect Spotlight 2022: Dyson Daniels
Bogdan, Huerter, Bey, Collins,... I was trying to see if any player got better when playing with or without Trae and they really didn't .
Bogdan, Huerter, Collins, Bey's stats stayed about the same before and after the trade.
The only player who did significantly better with Trae was Reddish.
If DD is going to get better, it will really have to come from his own development.
He has a broken shot and is a very poor free throw shooter, so the odds of him shooting 35% or above from three is very low. I really can't think of a recent player who was shooting 60% from the free throw and then all of a sudden became an average to above average NBA shooter.

The above sentiment concerns me.
I came to be a fan of Dyson's during that pre draft process in 2022.
I've followed him from afar since he got drafted by New Orleans.
I've seen Hawks fans online rave about how great a fit he'll be next to Trae. I think the early expectations may be too high for a guy with such limited scoring talent.
I also think the 'perfect fit' next to Trae will be a 3 & D star more than a simple defensive role player.
I do still like the kid, but on a team with so little scoring talent -- there's gonna be some rough patches where defenses completely ignore him to double Trae and Jalen.

He doesn't have to be prolific as a scorer. Just impactful enough to be respected. That alone will go a long way in keeping teams from doubling anyone. I don't see him being just a role player considering the form and mechanics are there on the shot. There's also the presence of a floater game, and the ability to take DHO's downhill.
Much like JJ, if Dyson can turn a corner as a shooter(going into his age 21 season), then he'll certainly be an impactful player on both ends of the floor. At the end of the day, I feel the kid has a much higher ceiling than he's given credit for. I'm not going to sit here and say he'll be an All NBA talent, but he's got enough upside to be more than he currently is.

Andre Iguodala in his GS Days -- that's the role Dyson likely fills with the Hawks.
Primary POA defender, tertiary playmaker.

This is the real Dyson Experience:
(Note that SGA shot 80% from the field for 16 points.)
- Suffocating defense
- Modest offensive production

Re: Prospect Spotlight: Dyson Daniels
We read here about how good Dyson Daniels has been this summer.
When these people discover he's an Atlanta Hawk, Oops, we didn't mean it. He can't be that good.
He does all these things in the Olympics. It's impossible for him to do any of this in the NBA.
