Right but that doesn't change the fact that it's hypocritical to call out someone for "not caring" about something after busting everyone else's balls about how much you didn't care for the past 12 months

PS: And, obviously, the hypocritical part here doesn't refer to you, durden. You're not the one making that claim.

I get what you’re saying here, but I don’t think it’s hypocritical if the claims made are true. USA obviously doesn’t care about the World Cup. At the same time, there’s no reason to think Germany doesn’t care.

Check out my answer to Edrees. The US may not care about the World Cup as a competition but it still cares about basketball. Germany doesn't. They don't give two flying **** about the sport. So, what Wingy actually said in their post is accurate.

Not choosing sides but just wanted to point out in case no one posted yet...

In last years FIBA WC, when GER won, it was a distant second news compared to the reaction when their football coach resigned/fired at the same time. Lot of their people then didnt even know they were participating in a FIBA tourney.lol

Maybe it changes now that they know Franz can get 50m/yr playing basketball. Who knows.

But hey, I’d love it if Germany and the rest of the world cared a lot more about basketball.

1. Makes my favorite sport more entertaining and even higher quality.

2. Gives us a chance in football. If the USA won the real World Cup, I think the world just might stop spinning on its axis. Football/futbol/soccer’s a great game and I wish we were actually competitive.

Hey, I agree. It would be **** amazing for basketball if countries with a lot of population and great infrastructure like Germany and Great Britain would start giving a **** about basketball. Same goes for Scandinavia, by the way. They are some of the tallest population groups in the world and they just do not care about basketball, man. All their height goes to producing goalkeepers, central defenders and handball players

Saw a topic sentence on another sports website just a few minutes ago:

"Team USA escapes with a victory against Germany."

Escapes is right. This team isn't a lock for anything and embarrassment is just a few missed shots or turnovers away.

I don’t know if you had a chance to watch, but if Dennis Schroder didn’t lose his damn mind late in the 4th, Germany wins. Just wasted about 4 of their possessions calling his own number.

Preposterously awful shot selection.

As someone said a few pages back, you’d have thought he was in cahoots with Jontay Porter.

B- team talent wise probably, but it was an ill-conceived roster. JJJ was a disaster at C and Kerr wouldn't play Kessler, the only true center on the team. Just absolutely crushed on the boards...

USA has KD tho, he is a FIBA monster.

He was a FIBA monster, absolutely capable of carrying a team to gold, but who knows what condition he is in.

Although I completely disagree on roster construction, I do agree with ‘Selfish player’ that I wish DeAaron Fox was selected. Speed like no one else on this team plus clutch shot-making. Pretty sure i called out Fox before Kawhi was selected.

Just another Haliburton, so redundant on that end-- all offense, not much defense type of players. The Derrick White decision is the way to go.

Like I said, no one has his speed, and clearly there’s a lack of anyone wanting to do anything late who’s not close to qualifying for AARP.

Didn’t need to be at the expense of White, I’m a big fan of that selection. Flip out Booker.

The Nike cartel has to end. Open tryouts and stop favoring Nike athletes / politically correct guys / older legends who are injured.
Rest in peace Kobe & Gianna

For that to happen, the US MUST lose this Olympics (any non-Gold is losing). Until then the powers that be can do what they want.

Trae is just not worth a roster spot. There are so many other guys that deserve a spot over him. Brunson, Brown, Ja, Irving. Trae is just not it.

Funny time to question Bron when he is basically the main reason why team USA is winning.

4 Days away from Day 1 of the Men's Basketball even in the Olympics!

Opening day odds:

Australia -4.5 vs Spain
Germany -16.5 vs Japan
France -13.5 vs Brazil
Canada -6.5 vs Greece
Puerto Rico -3.5 vs South Sudan
USA -15.5 vs Serbia

Hmmmmm, early leans on USA, Australia, France and South Sudan to cover the spread. Still iffy on the others. Well, iffy on all since those are pretty interesting lines (most interesting is US still that big of a favorite against Serbia and Canada vs Greece a close one...)

Kerr, Curry, and Lebron not medaling on the podium this year will be the gift of a lifetime.
