There's levels to this. I was told LeBron isn't LeBron anymore... First off, of course he isn't prime Bron anymore, but he is still who he is. One of the GOATs. Even at his current level he just dwarfs the potential of some of the USA stars. When people say prime LeBron would break the current NBA, it's not a joke...

A 40yr old LeBron still being out best player tells you all you need to know.
These American players are all hype no substance. Ain't nobody worthy of the face of the league because LeBron is still that guy. Someone please step the F up!

Does Tatum throughly outplaying Durant in a playoff series count for nothing?
No, not really. That's a 2 year-old series where Durant got the full focus of a high-end Boston defense without the benefit of his full team. We've seen what that does to players.
They were only missing Joe Harris & Ben Simmons, get the **** out of here with that “without the benefit of his full team” crap

Doesn't bother me in the slightest..
Lebron's legacy would definitely take a hit if the USA don't bring home Gold at the Olympics though.
He has far more to lose than Tatum tbh

No, I do think Lebron and his association with Nike is unhealthy and concerning..
Jaylen Brown didn't make the US team because he is well known critic of Nike and their lack of ethical business practices (that is more on Nike than Lebron though)
Nike isn't going to allow any other US player outshine Lebron from a PR perspective until he retires. It's annoying , but as I say I think that is more on Nike than Lebron himself.

It seems like you lack awareness of who LeBron actually is. His brand is big without Nike. How can anyone outshine him when he's the headliner?
LeBron name is global.

He is not even a top 5 player in the league anymore
He is the most famous player on the planet yes, bur not the best, and probably hasn't been for at least 6 years now (Joker, Giannis and Luka aka the foreign Legion have surpassed his talents and match winning ability on court)
Lebron is a top 3 player or so all time (I still have Jordan and Kareem ahead of him) but it would be nice if Nike also started pumping up younger US talent coming through the league (most notably Ant-Man)

Everytime I see Tatum he's close to LeBron trying to get wisdom from LeBron.
Main reason Jaylen Brown should have been on this team over Tatum. He's Kobe. That pretty boy stuff don't mean nothing. We trying to win gold. This dude just trying to be under Lebron's wing.
We need some Dawgs!
Jaylen Brown and Ja Morant. Get these none alpha guys off the team. They sent guys who's not our best. They left the best home.
Team USA WTF are we doing!
LOL, that's exactly what team USA needs is somebody who thinks they're a big-time scorer even though they were the least efficient scorer on their own team of the 9 players who got regular rotation minutes. It would be like the 2004 team with Iverson and Marbury all over again. If you just want a guy to play D, Alex Caruso or Herbert Jones would be much better choices with the added benefit that they can make open threes.

LeBron was still the best player in the league in 2020. It was near unanimous. His closest competition was his own teammate and everyone knew that was Bron's team.
Is he a top 5 player in the league right now? No. But he might still be the best player from the United States. I mean I guess Embiid's playing for the US, but he's not actually from here and I don't know that I trust him as much as LeBron in this environment.

I really wish Embiid decided to play for his native Cameroon tbh. We have seem many African Nation born Soccer players go on to chose play for their adopted country (usually European) esp France.
Jose Mourinho mentioned this the other day

I think if you asked LeBron and Tatum who should start if only one of them could, the decision would be unanimous.

Tatum is better than Lebron in 2024. You’ll see it in nearly every ranking list included the realgm one currently who is ranked higher. Lebron’s defense is mid and is a problem. He looked bad during the recent scrimmage game on that end. Hes getting the start because his name is Lebron.
