I saw the legend Kevin Willis at Hartsfield Airport this morning. Kevin, his daughter, and son deboarded at the same gate I was boarding from. Great seeing him!

Hawks, State Farm Arena hire industry vet Amanda Mann for top role

AMANDA MANN has been hired as executive vice president and chief facilities officer for the Hawks and State Farm Arena, becoming the first woman to lead arena operations in the Hawks’ 56-year history. Mann will oversee all Hawks properties, including their business offices within Centennial Tower, the Emory Sports Medicine Complex and State Farm Arena. She’ll be responsible for the event, facility and financial management responsibilities of the arena.

Mann, a 2021 SBJ Game Changer, moves to Atlanta with more than 25 years of experience in the sports and entertainment industries, including arena-focused jobs with the Rockets, where she had a booking and events focus from 2006 to 2016, and the Trail Blazers, where she was GM and SVP of the 30-acre Rose Quarter sports and entertainment district, including the Blazers’ Moda Center, from 2016 to 2022.

Most recently, Mann was GM for Live Nation in Ridgefield, Wash., at the RV Inn Style Resorts Amphitheater, one of Live Nation’s top five, large outdoor venues for food and beverage per-caps. She grew revenue by nearly $2M in less than two years and boosted sustainability diversion by more than 20%.

This was Year 2 of the Budenholzer experience, right? Using an offense crafted previously by Quin Snyder (before he took the Utah job).

Well, we're about to entire our second full season in a Quin Snyder offense...I'm expecting a similarly big jump.

One of his passions is being taken from him. Fans of Atlanta sports have experienced many losses over the years. Big and small, the Thrashers being one, and now something that's smaller like the KIA section.
