That was an obvious miss. Can't pass up a cheap opportunity to take a chance at that type of player. If they weren't interested at all, that's an issue.

what type of player? between end of season and SL it looks like he hasn't made a single improvement.

I don’t think that’s fair…if Gradey was scoring at the clip GG is (despite being a year younger) this board would be raving. Especially if the kid was 6’8-9 and averaging almost 15ppg in his rookie year as a 18/19 year old.

This is slightly reminding me of the early Maxey hate on this board.

Also, GG's character issues did come to light in the season. He was suspended for a game by the Grizzlies for "violating team rules" last year.

Based on what we can observe publicly and stuff that has leaked, the issues seem to stem from his lack of maturity and the lack of a good support structure around him. Those are fixable for sure, but they've been issues for him in college and the NBA so far. With that said, you can argue that he needed to fall to get the wake up call that could set him on the right path.

The type: 6'8ish athletic scorer than can shoot, dribble, and possibly pass. Those don't exactly grow on trees.

He showed much better playmaking skills in summer league. Still very young and has to improve efficiency.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

what hate? i'm just asking you what type of player that is in your mind.

if he pans out he'll be like a PF version of Jaylen Brown IMO but he has a long way to get there

brown is a usually top 50 guy who made an all-star team 3 times but never deserved to even a single time. he did have one playoff run where he played like a borderline all-star in 2019-20

Meh, there's maybe 10 all-stars found after the 15th pick since 2014, and the Raptors are the only team to have more than one, and there's no characteristics that really tie any of the all-stars together. Success like that is more random (or if you don't like that term maybe more tied into the unknown of player development) and eludes conventional scouting. The Raptors haven't found similar success lately because they cut off their flow of picks. They haven't given themselves enough chances.

pippen jr was amazing, memphis has some really promising young players hopefully for them one of them pans out and can be added to their core

pippen has always been below average shooting the 3 ball but he did shoot 41.7% on 72 attempts at NBA level last year. i think it was a bit lucky since he is more of a <35% guy so the sample isn't big enough to believe in him yet. still he looks like he'll be a bench player at least for years.

I'd prefer Carton to JFL though if possible as I think he has more upside.

Top 15
Barnes-Boucher-Mogbo
Dick-Agbaji-Temple
Poeltl-Olynyk
Barrett-Brown-Walter-JFL
Quickley-Mitchell-Shead

Two-way
Branden Carlson
Ulrich Chomche
Jamison Battle

Pretty happy with Battle so far. The guy's a pure gunner.
