Worth noting... new assistant coach Mark Bryant was the big man coach (Deandre Alton) for the Suns when Mikal Bridges and Cam Payne were there.

The Precious situation is weird, if he isn't signing with us, it makes no sense he hasn't been picked up yet.

No thanks. I watched a couple of jazz summer league games and they both suck

I’m ok with Randle playing out his FA year with the risk that we lose him for nothing.

It’s better than taking on bad contracts or protected picks

Kevin McCullar Jr. not signed as well. I know he's been rehabbing (allegedly), but I'm curious what's going on there. No update on him in 12 days.

Pretty agile for a 7 footer, positions well, competes, seems to have a very good feel for the game. Unless they don't see him as being any better than Sims?

Literally the last one left I am interested in.

If the Knicks go into the season with a center rotation with a combination of Mitch, Sims, Precious, Skap or Huk I think we are going to be criticizing the FO for not doing enough to sure up that spot because it can very well become a major Achilles heel sabotaging the season and playoffs.

That rotation is thin, injury prone, inexperienced and lacking in the types of top notch skills to perform at a high level against the best competition. Unless one of the 'unknown' and untested players have a quantum leap, fans are going to upset with how little the FO has done to address it.

Of course, a trade for a center changes that assessment because they will have in fact addressed it by adding a player they hope fills that weakness. It will also be assessed by whom that player is, as all players aren't equal. Time will tell, but time is also running out.

Houston Rockets Receive: PF Julius Randle

New York Knicks Receive: PF Jabari Smith Jr., C Jock Landale, F Jeff Green, 2027 first-round pick (top-five protected)

If the Rockets want to make a big leap in the West standings next season, adding an All-Star power forward in the prime of his career could help.

Randle, 28, is a Texas native who would bring balance to this young Rockets team. He averaged 24.0 points, 9.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game last season and would slide into a Houston starting five that also features Fred VanVleet, Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks and Alperen Şengün.

Smith, 21, has All-Star potential, but Randle is better suited to lead the Rockets into the playoffs now.

For a Knicks team that still went 21-15 without Randle and reached the second round of the playoffs, this move is designed to increase future financial flexibility while staying in the title hunt now. Smith could start at power forward, or the Knicks could keep OG Anunoby at the four, allowing Josh Hart or Donte DiVincenzo to stay in the opening lineup as well.

Smith has two years remaining on his rookie deal, while Landale and Green are either in the final year of their contract or have a non-guaranteed salary for next season. That would save the Knicks a lot of potential money in 2025 with a Randle extension off the table.

Landale would also give the Knicks a backup center to Mitchell Robinson, a spot that both Smith and Green could eat up minutes at as well. The Knicks would pick up a future first-round selection as well, which is important after they gave up five in a deal for Mikal Bridges.

I don't actually hate this (but only consider it if Randle wants the bag) and then trade for Clint Capela , Kessler or Richards. Jabari is cost controlled and our team has enough talent to be very good right now with Bridges added to it.

We can offer him more than any team that would want to sign him. It'd be beneficial for both sides to sign and trade if it comes to that

Kenneth Lofton Jr. What he lacks in height, he makes up for in girth.
