DET gets Randle and NY gets Ingram
So, combining rumors.
DET gets - Randle
NO gets - Ivey, Stewart, $13 mil tpe
NY gets - Ingram
*note that it works on espn but NY takes on $13 mil going over second apron, so might want to add McBride ($4.4) to NO (or Hart or DD but not sure if they would rather just pay and keep them).
DET gets a couple of things it needs in one player. PF needs help and they need a veteran.
NY gets a shooter on an expiring contract. Not sure if this is the best solution but it gives them firepower and keeps options open.
NO gets a center it needs in Stewart. Ivey goes into a crowded backcourt but could get a chance to shine outside Detroit. Also, if they can get the $13 mil tpe, that is large enough to add Adams at the trade deadline if Rox are not doing well.
Not sure if anyone needs to add picks. Ingram and Randle have lost value due to injuries and salary level. Thought on if picks need to be added?

Why would NY trade their All NBA PF for a wing when they have 2 real good one. Also why would NY want to have to pay Ingram
the $50 M he wants.

Because they did well without the pf and he has been shopped on this site a lot.
Plus, they need more scoring - someone beside Brunson to shoot the rock.

Re: DET gets Randle and NY gets Ingram
The Knicks did even better with that All-NBA PF than without him. I’m not a huge Ingram fan, see this as a very lateral move talent wise and would rather just keep the guy who’s been here since the ship first started to right itself.

Pistons trade two young players AND money for a soon to be 30 year old poor shooting forward, who wants to get paid 40+ million a year? Am I reading this wrong?
Pass. Hard pass. Involving Detroit to make it work, means picks. Lots of picks.

Re: DET gets Randle and NY gets Ingram
I think we'd rather have Ingram, and since the package that gets him comes from the Pistons, NY gets cut out. Not 100% on the fit of Stew + Ivey for Ingram for other team, though.

Pelicans don't need a 6'8 center who can't defend the rim and shoots like a point guard at the rim. But if they did, they would've just kept Nance.

Detroit cuts out the Knicks and takes Ingram.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Beef Stew rates in the 97th percentile in rim defense https://craftednba.com/players/isaiah-stewart I'm guessing you just looked at his blocks and did zero research.

Re: DET gets Randle and NY gets Ingram
Doesn't make sense for the Knicks. All of the hypothetical playing style/offensive role issues Randle could have co-existing with the rest of their roster are duplicated by Ingram with the added inconvenience of positional overlap that isn't there with Randle. With Randle it's going to be tough for them to play their best-5 together a ton... with Ingram it's impossible.

Randle scores more points than Ingram. Also as much folks rag on Randle disappearing in the PO, WTF did Ingram do?
34.5/25.0/89.5
14.3 PPG/4.5 REB/3.3 AST
NY would will gladly turn the opportunity over to DET to pay him.

Re: DET gets Randle and NY gets Ingram
Detroit just signed Harris to fill the PF role for a couple of years, and he will be happier than Randle at filling the vet shooter at PF, and for a lot less money.
Detroit could certainly help facilitate a trade with their cap space, but not giving up good young players to help. Easy pass for Detroit.

Emphasis on "on this site."
I've seen no evidence anywhere that the Knicks are actively pursuing a Randle trade. None. Sure, on the unlikely chance something better came along, we'd likely trade Randle, but Knicks' management seems well aware that Randle's trade value is currently low.
That said, there's no need to dump Randle now. Even a flawed version of Randle is cheap at the current price--marginal all-star production at just 30 million/year is a steal.
However, like a lot of Knicks fans, I expect Randle to bounce back very strong this coming season. You've heard the excuses for his occasionally poor play before; no need to write them out again now. This coming season, though, Randle will for the first time as a Knick be both healthy and playing with an elite point guard. I think he has a great season.
And if not, Randle will be an expiring contract next summer. We might have better luck trying to move him then.
RIP magnumt--you're literally why I'm still here on these boards.
RIP The Hater--keep up the good fight in the great beyond.

Re: DET gets Randle and NY gets Ingram
Knicks gonna see how it goes with Randle first, open question if he can be their secondary creator and be trusted in that role, or kinda messes up spacing and vibes even if he can get numbers. And even if that doesn’t go well, not sure that Ingram is enough of a shoe in for what they need that they’d think seriously about blowing their last $ move on him. Remember this is an expensive roster now that’s already had to lose some pieces for $ purposes.

They lost I Hart because of cap rule not because they didn't offer him the most they could.

Re: DET gets Randle and NY gets Ingram
Ingram makes more than $7m more than Randle, so NY would be hard capped at the first apron. Which they’re already dangerously close to with only 13 guys signed. If NY is to make any trade that doesn’t heavily drop their salary commitments for this year, they’re certainly not going to trigger the first apron hard cap and will need to send out more salary than they take back.

I understand that you guys spent a lot of money on Ivey but a lot of first round picks? Get real. The prospects that are actually key to Detroit's future would benefit greatly from a guy like Randle. His secondary playmaking and his ability to draw opposing defense's attention would make things easier for them.
Why rely on nuance, facts and logic when you can bludgeon the other side with mindless repetition of "Duuur McDaniel's has potential
and still be treated as if you were reasonable.

Ivey is still on his rookie deal. We didn’t spend a lot of money on him.
Randle would hate it. And Pistons just brought in Tobias for that role.
If you want Ingram and want to not get hard capped, you need to send out more salary. Randle fits the bill. Need to find another team to take him and get compensation to the Pels. Maybe someone w an extra center which the Pels need.
