It's crazy to see the boys from up north ranked #4 in the World Rankings. Living in northern MN, those of us that love to fish, hunt and run around in the woods consider ourselves in South Ontario.

Go Canucks! (Except against the place I pay my taxes)

It's pretty exciting to see them back in the Olympics again. I remember being a teenager glued to the TV screen watching Steve Nash, Todd MacCulloch, and Rowan Barret (RJ's dad) play in the 2000 games and thinking this was the beginning of a new era of Canadian basketball.

Who knew it would take 24 years before I was right.

I saw Jimmer Fredette is on the US 3x3 team. I don't know much about the players, but surely he is far and away the best player in that sort of format?

Nah, Serbia has been killing it in 3 x 3 for the last ten years or so.

It’s fun to play when you don’t have enough for a full run, but man. I just can’t get excited at all to watch 3x3.

Even if I could choose my ideal 6 players in the world for such a matchup. I just don’t GAF.

That’s not to poo in your pool if you enjoy it. Maybe I’m alone in this.

He's top 5 for sure at the game of 3x3. He's hands down the best 5x5 player in the 3x3 tournament.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

So how does this work?

Is this single elimination we're out or do we get another chance?

Group Stage has four teams-- each country plays each other once.

Best 2 teams in each group advance to the QF (So 6 teams from 3 groups); the other 2 teams will be the next best two teams teams not topping the group (W-L record, point differential matters since there's going to be a bunch of ties) for the 8-team Quarterfinals.

KO rest of the way.

Bisme, info on the random draw in the QF (Should be a big one and more questions about this since the randomness might screw some teams): viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2397427

Thanks for explaining. I think we could go undefeated the entire way. I just don't see us blowing out the competition like I previously thought. Should be interesting to see how they fair now that the games count.

You are quite a few years late with this realisation, we been talking about it, and hes been there for years now. Last time Serbia cooked his ass, hes by far biggest name, but one of the smaller bodies, from what I have seen, 3x3 players are usually 6'6 or taller.

Should is a though word to use, when comp has at least 5 teams that "should" medal. Some teams just wont.

Luol Deng responded to Paul Pierce and Arenas comments. Apparently, human garbage Gilbert Arenas also said something racist and offensive, since its his whole shtick.

https://www.eurohoops.net/en/olympic-games/1699547/luol-deng-responds-to-insulting-comments-by-paul-pierce-gilbert-arenas/

Full response in a link

I normally don’t pay attention to these type of comments, but as an African, a leader in my community, and the president of the South Sudan Basketball Federation, I feel it is important to respond. This is for those who have asked about these comments, those who are offended by them, and everyone who has followed our story.

I’m not upset or angry at these ignorant remarks made by my former colleagues; I was more disappointed to see them coming from two individuals I’ve always respected. The comments made by Paul Pierce showed misinformation and a lack of research. However, he used it as a teachable moment to shed positivity once he was informed. Thank you to Paul Pierce for apologising, that i can respect.

Growing up, I heard many similar comments, and those very remarks are some of the things that motivated me to change the narrative. Africans now show solidarity and support for each other more than ever. Moments like this are not for us to get upset and lash out. Many Africans and Black people who embrace their African heritage are working hard to bring all Black people closer by educating and sharing stories and historic moments, teaching that we have much more in common than differences.
