TNT Launches Social Media Campaign Lobbying For Public Support To Keep NBA

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Jul 24, 2024 5:32 pm

Warner Bros. Discovery’s TNT, Bleacher Report, and House of Highlights have launched a social media campaign to create public support for their efforts to keep the NBA on their networks as they've matched the league's $1.8 billion per season deal with Amazon.

“The idea here is to let the content speak for itself,” one PR expert tracking the effort tells Front Office Sports.

On Tuesday, Bleacher Report retweeted a TNT post to its 18.3 million followers celebrating the on-air chemistry of the Inside the NBA cast as “one of a kind.”

The NBA is considering TNT's counteroffer, but sources say the league still prefer's Amazon's bid.

“I think [the NBA] is going to reject, or do whatever they can, to say no to TNT,” says the source. “This ends up in court.”

There’s no doubt that Inside is the best part of the NBA outside the gameplay and sometimes Inside will have higher ratings than the game. The fan support is there but Silver is a sleazy lawyer who will kill a good thing for a penny extra in revenue.

The potential reach of amazon (to the correct markets) is much higher. amazon prime can be on basically every device out there, unfortunately that makes TNT look like chump change.

All that being said, inside the NBA is the only nba show worth watching and i'm massively bummed that it's probably going away.

Silver didn't intend to keep WBD/TNT as partners.

What a nutjob conspiracy theory TNT could of had the same package as espn but they botched the negoiations and yes at that point the NBA moved on.

Did you not read what I said? "Silver didn't intend to keep WBD/TNT as partners." Should they have offered the same package as the four letter network, silver still would have gone with Amazon.
