I'm glad.
I was worried we might keep Jackson over Micic or Mann. He's not a terrible player but he's the worst out of those three imo.

reggie jackson with the most bizarre hornets histories of any player. twice traded to charlotte, twice waived, 0 games played.

It was less a worry about playing time and more that we only had to cut someone for roster space. I couldn't be sure the new regime valued Micic or Mann that highly, it's not like Jackson is awful just less upside.

Re: Officially Waived: The Trades Reggie Jackson Thread
I don't understand why we didn't just waive him immediately after the trade.
Did we survey the market intending to use his salary as full or part matching in negotiations for trades? Were we simply negotiating buyout terms? Maybe both?
Whatever the explanation for why we waited all this time to waive him, it will be interesting to see the plan (or lack thereof) for the new open roster spot.

Re: Officially Waived: The Reggie Jackson Thread
i can only assume that, yes, they spent two weeks gauging his trade value or waiting to see if his salary was needed as filler in any potential trades. when it was clear there was no value or trade need, they cut him. all good. we ger a roster spot. kj moves up one spot in the rotation. micic doesn't have to look over his shoulder.

"Reggie Jackson gave up $3.3 million in his buyout with the Charlotte Hornets and will earn that same amount in his new deal with the Philadelphia 76ers."
Looks like those second round picks just got cheaper.

Hornets should have a decent chunk of cap left to spend in the after market, no?

the room exception of just under $8M
We're allowed to use that in trades now. If we had any real cap space after taking on Jackson and Green, it was gone when Bridges signed.

Jackson was rolled into the room exception I believe but I thought we have the full nom-tax MLE as an overflow fund.

Seems ripe for a salary dump methinks
