Given his injury history, I would roll the dice on leaving Isaac unprotected and moved both TDS and Jett to protected.

You could talk me into swapping KCP from Isaac.

In the past yes. The future would depend on a CBA on expansion. In general, players will support expansion, as two new teams means 30 new jobs. But: they will want a guarantee of some sort that these 30 new players will not lead to suppression of wages.

So: it kind of depends on the players more than the teams as to 8, or some other number (say 9).

The first 7 are pretty easy for me. The five starters, Isaac the most important bench player, and Black's potential.

The 8th spot is either Tristan da Silva or Jett Howard...

Agreed on the top-7. As for Mr. #8, that should be about asset management. It could be that the Magic negotiate with the (two) expansion teams on which player(s) they would want, and the Magic can make a trade based on that.

Overall it is not so simple for me as stating, Anthony, Howard, or da Silva for the 8.

Would not protect
Cole Anthony
Corey Joseph
Gary Harris
Caleb Houstan
Wendell Carter Jr.
Moritz Wagner
Goga Bitadze

I believe they can only take 1 or 2 players anyway. I could see them taking Goga, WCJ, or Cole.

This is spot on for me too. Not a chance in hell im protecting WCJ. Hes done nothing to contribute to winning in two years, and is one of the most overrated players in the league.

WCJ and his contract is an asset. KCPs short term contract isn’t and likely wouldn’t be a target.

I really don’t get this take not protecting WCJ.

I guess i was looking purely at it from who i wouldnt want to lose from the court. As far as the contract situation, i can see that WCJ is on a team friendly deal, but still i think we would get more in a trade for KCP than WCJ.
