So let me get this straight -- Memphis, who already had Jaren Jackson Jr. and drafted Zach Edey, just signed Huff to a 2-way deal... They even cut Trey Jemison to make room for him, a guy I think you could make a good case for that he's better than Jericho Sims...

Meanwhile over here, Hartenstein bolts on us (happy for him but I'm glad we didn't pay that kind of money to keep him -- let OKC have him for that amount), all of these trade ideas for a legit C have gone nowhere, we still have a huge need in the middle (Mitch ain't even that good, far from a complete player and I feel like we'll be lucky to get 30 games out of him and Jericho Sims isn't even an NBA player), and we show no interest in a guy like Jay Huff???

Listen, I've come to respect Leon Rose and all the geniuses surrounding him, no question about it.. These guys obviously know what they're doing and I'm so appreciate and grateful for what they've done...100% agree with the two big moves we made this off-season -- the Bridges trade and bringing back OG. Both had to be done...But now turning our attention to suring up the middle, none of these trade ideas we've been linked to felt real or seemed even remotely feasible. Doesn't mean that you don't stop working the phones.. My thing though -- why not go out and sign Jay Huff for insurance WHILE CONTINUING to work the phones?? With all the good that Rose and co. have done and continue to do, I feel like we missed an opportunity not signing Jay Huff here.

Here's my super real opinion of Hartenstein (and I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking this) -- did a nice job for us, probably better than Mitch pound for pound, but now that he got the type of money he did, I'm putting him on my overrated list. Like Mitch, he's a limited player in a lot of areas. Nice player, was useful and helpful, but not worth $87 M over 3 yrs. Come on, that's absurd.. I think you could make A VERY GOOD CASE how Jay Huff, with his size and skill set, could EASILY turn into an even better player than Hartenstein if given the same opportunities... Even a better overall player than Walker Kessler....And hey, even if I'm wrong about that, signing Huff to a minimal deal with much less expectation than I have for him would've been the right thing. I mean you know the Knicks know about this dude -- I bet if Huff's agent was smart, knowing the Knicks sudden derth of options in the middle, he probably reached out to the Knicks himself, in a 'hey, what about my guy?' way. I know i would've if I were Huff's agent.. I mean say that happened, what did Leon say to him, 'no thanks'??????

I see a huge missed opportunity not getting Huff -- We should've signed this man to a two-way deal while we continue exploring these pie-in-the-sky trades ideas of a C... I mean what's the latest rumor now that made me laugh? A trade for DeAndre Ayton? LOL Ok... I mean come on, please... But no, I have to read that he went to Memphis, a team whose 5 spot was already a strength... smh

Jay Huff was clearly the way to go but under the bridge now.. My 2nd choice going back weeks now in Omer Yurtseven. He's still out there... Maybe we gobble him up now before he's gone too.

Agree really strongly with this.

iShart went from underrated to now fairly overrated. There are other players who can do what he does. It just seemed magical because Mitch can't do dick but dunk.

Really agree that the FO dropped the ball, BIG TIME, with a guy like Huff, or drafting a big, not some crappy project big with the 58th pick either.

This FO is good, but occasionally they get cute and it bites them in the ass. This is one of those times.

Absolutely. We needn’t be afraid of what’s ahead.

Towns‘s career averages:

22.9 ppg, 10.8 rpg, 52.4 FG%, 39.8 3P%

Since some of y’all only look at the big stats anyway, compare that to

Blake Griffin
19, 8, 49 FG%, 33 3P%

Chris Bosh
19, 9, 49 FG%, 34 3P%

Amar‘e
19, 8, 54 FG%, 24 3P%

Julius Randle
19, 9, 47 FG%, 33 3P%

Carmelo Anthony
22, 6, 44 FG%, 36 3P%

Bbbbbut Bosh was a proven winner and KAT is really soft
this isn't a fair comp due to everyone you listed (other than randle) is retired - so their later years lowered their stats.
not disagreeing with the point you're trying to make - but Kat has played 9 seasons, so you should comp to those players first 9 seasons.

Yeah I was just too lazy and only playing around. Odds are his 23 and 11 hold up just well enough though. I’m not even a fan, but he is good.

We have brought in (probably not coincidentally) one of the best big man coaches in the league. I think this roster is very well suited for Towns over Randle if it came down to it. His 3 ball would be a huge addition and his defense has gotten better as he matured and under a defensive coach in Finch.

They shouldn't rely on the crappy 58th pick when the Knicks could rely on the undrafted guy who has bounced around the league for 3 years and has played a total of 164 mins in his whole NBA career. If fact, he's the missing piece to a title...Memphis should ready the parade route.

Drafting is clearly not this FO’s strong suit. Sucks

I'm a big Looney fan... I'd do Precious + rights to Rokas (or two or three 2nd rounders) for Looney. Then I'd extend him on a 3 or 4 year "cheap" deal.

Would GSW do it? Not sure... but they would be picking up some assets...

Not sure Looney is an improvement. Pretty similar stats and height. Liked what Precious gave us last season. The regular season record doesn't matter so much anymore - it's more who is healthy come Playoffs. That gives us to mid-season trading deadline to see how much anything is needed and who can fill the void, if there is one.

You are comparing a 1st option player to a player that has been the 2nd/3/rd option on his team.

Show KAT's playoffs stats when he was the first option.

You can want KAT because you simply think he is less or equally flawed to Randle and know his contract might be less than what Randle asks for.
