Is Greece the weakest team is this group? Canada is going to have to face all the tough teams lol

Yeah, that was disappointing. Where the hell is Boucher?
Honestly, he's better than oknyk or lyles
Boucher at least will give you some hustle and rebounds.

He chose Summer League, got injured and missed most of it. What a waste.
Better he got injured in summer league than playing for the national team I guess

First Olympic win in 24 years. Congrats to all the die-hards who have been following the team since the dark ages.
Good win too. Must-win in my opinion. I think Spain will be just as tough and Australia will be tougher. 1 down 5 to go.

Re: Team Canada Basketball Thread V4.0
This is likely Murray + SGA last duo in the Olympics.
We’re going to struggle to even reach the semis.
The big rotation is terrible.
As expected Canada will be in foul trouble every game.
I don’t want to mention by name who is not there, assuming the Canadian team will auto be back.

Boucher has never played for Canada. Wiggins gets all the hate but nobody ever mentions Boucher.

This team may need to use Nembhard as the initiator for the bench. Murray really isn't great at creating for others and has looked out of shape here.

Has he actually been invited? No one ever mentions him. He seems to be an afterthought.

I agree. Murray needs to do less. Should be looking to shoot more and I need less creation from him.

He probably looked even worse than Murray out there this game.

He's used to playing with the ball. I trust him more than Murray from that point of view. This may actually help Murray more.

Refs really kept Greece in the game, wouldn't have been close if it was officiated evenly. Not even remotely.

I mean Canada has no big men. All Giannis is doing is out-muscling guys smaller and slower than him. Nothing insane about it

Re: Team Canada Basketball Thread V4.0
I think Australia is probably the toughest test. Spain are always a threat but not quite as dominant as their golden era.
We should be good to advance as long as we win one of next two games. And Giannis, outside of maybe Jokic, is the most dominant player in this tournament.
They got a bit shook in the 2nd half but they did still control things the whole way through even despite the uneven refereeing.

C_Money wrote:Also why isn’t Jamal Murray playing more?
He looks rusty and lost in the limited minutes he played, also missed some makable shots that should've gone in. It's probably a combination of conditioning and rep with the team. The team is not spacing the floor right when he has the ball and don't know what to do other than waiting for him to do something. Hopefully he will come around in the knock out round should we advance, we need him to knock down those shots

The 2005-06 Suns will always have a special place in my heart

His defence has been awful as well. Is he playing injured or what? Certainly looks like it.

Re: Team Canada Basketball Thread V4.0
I think we match up a lot better with Australia than Spain. We are obviously more talented than both teams but Spain has a ton of size and scoring in the front court which is a clear weakness for us.
