Can we get some more context on this line? How serious?
EDIT: NVM, I just went through it, it's at about the 1 hour 8 minute point, and it's not at all clear that he's talking about Lauri. It does seem clear that the other team balked, b/c Morey says that everyone on the Sixers' side had signed off.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
I don't know if he was talking about Lauri. It would've hardcapped them, I don't think that's something they ever wanted to do and it would've cost more than a few of their picks, it would've cost all of them.

Daryl Morey has proven to be a great GM and has given the league a master class on how to build with this CBA.... Taking advantage of the middle class shrinking and masterclasses on how to deal with crying stars. But....
Daryl Morey is a liar. A few picks my ass

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
I watched it and figured he was referring to Lauri as well. Who else could we have traded for that would've been fine this year but put us at that sort of payroll next year?
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Bona/Watford/Barlow
Embiid/Drummond/Broome

So listening to the audio again, sounds like we wanted the deal, but the other party wanted more. Sounds like Ainge to me lol.

Sucks that we couldn't get him for the minimum, but I'm guessing he wanted a bigger role.

Probably Lauri, but Segun, Green, Murphy, and Kuminga would also fit the bill.ProcessDoctor wrote:I watched it and figured he was referring to Lauri as well. Who else could we have traded for that would've been fine this year but put us at that sort of payroll next year?

Could've been Cam Johnson, though a few picks sounds excessive. He's good but not that good.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
I figured if Mikal Bridges went for 5 first round picks, Ainge would ask for like 7 FRP's for Lauri so I never thought that trade was even remotely realistic. Maybe if we didn't manage to get PG that would still be our best choice, but like this -I don't think so.

The NBA trade market needs a serious reset. 5 first round picks sounds great. But the majority of those picks should fall in the 20 range and the Knicks are a pretty youngish organization. It's not like they gave up 5 picks and they are an old team. Which makes me wonder. Next year when the Suns flame out, how much will they ask/expect for a past his prime, but still very good, KD. Because i'd love to see him here.
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

You forgot to mention that Morey got PG to come to philly not to be the 1st or 2nd option but the 3rd option. Why is that because he drafted Maxey who is going to take over this team very soon. So a few picks is a relative term. Give the man some latitude. But knowing Ainge he probably wanted all the Clippers picks and several more 1st round picks too. Morey probably respond with "Danny you know Collars is no longer running the show right!"

What are the chances it was Jimmy Butler? Luari seems like a stretch considering out assets. Not sure how we match Butlers salary though

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
What if we exhaust all that asset to get Lauri, then Lauri turns out to be a power forward version of Buddy Hield and doesn’t fit well with the team?

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
I know Maxey is bulking up to be a 2 he gonna explode as a scorer. and Caleb the 3 and he gonna do the dirty work and PG the 4 whole is gonna torch 4s with his quickness. Keep in mind Embiid is big as **** and we need mobility. I bet Reggie long ass arms gonna pencil in as starting point guard with Lowry backing him up. Mccain gonna groom into Lowry eventually.
Our next roster move gonna be a 4 for sure. Who can enforce for us.
Oubre,KJ and council gonna bring the athleticism. And dunk that sh.t
I'm gonna say it now this team gonna be a load of problems for the league. The skill level with the roles is off the charts ....

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
I prefer Reggie Jackson over Tyus Jones because Reggie can effectively play alongside Maxey or Eric Gordon in the backcourt, offering a better overall fit. However, if there’s someone I’d choose Tyus Jones over, it would be Kyle Lowry.

Our next roster more should be talent over roleplayers
Morris,Hayward over 3 and D chowder or floor spacing bertans.
