5 years(or whatever it is) of working/living in a country to be valid for citizenship...Scotties almost there. If he doesn't get selected to the US team Canada better come knocking...altho I'm sure the US would be aware of this lol

That's what Canada needs, a naturalized citizen or two, like Embiid playing for USA.

Teams can’t keep players from playing unless it’s a valid medical reason.

They can strong arm them into it but it’s up to the player.

And edey the player made the correct decision here. He hasnt earned 1 nba dollar yet and you want him to go against the wishes of the team that drafted him? Would be stupid

What's frustrating about that is the wishes of the team is wrong. He'd develop far more playing in the Olympics than SL, and still have training camp to learn the Grizzlies system. Teams should realize that playing in a competitive FIBA/Olympic tournament is an experience that makes players better.

Scottie Barnes. He seems to be spending a good chunk of the off-season here.

Why is no one talking about barrett

23 points to lead the team on 13 shots is damn impressive. Looking like his efficiency can be a real thing

What time in ET is the next Canadian Men's game & what time in ET is the next Canadian Women's game.

I sincerely hope we show both the equal amount of exposure & get behind them/rooting for them to win!

"Progressing well after surgery
May 28, 2024
Coach Rick Carlisle said Tuesday that Mathurin (shoulder) is way ahead of schedule on his post-surgery recovery, Dustin Dopirak of The Indianapolis Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Mathurin's productive sophomore season was cut short due to a torn labrum in his right shoulder. The 21-year-old averaged 14.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 26.1 minutes across 59 games. This progress bodes well for the Pacers and Mathurin, as he's on track to make a full recovery before the start of the 2024-25 season."

I doubt your 4 year old was asking that, they probably were asking questions about Paw Patrol which is quite popular amongst children these days.

I can see why Edey would elect to prepare for the NBA season.

The biggest concern with him was his defense/ mobility. He has played 4 years of college where the defensive rules are similar to FIBA (no 3 in the key rule).

He has to break old defensive habits & get ready for the NBA game. (Personally I wish 3 in the key didn't exist & the transition to FIBA was seamless)

Hopefully Edey plays in 2028.

I think barring health or some contract situation, you will see him there. He's been happy to go. If we're lucky, he's a rich man's Jonas and would be dominant in the international game. If we're also lucky, we develop a defensive, rebounding motor big in the ilk of TT, Birch or Joel Anthony to compliment him off the bench. Then 2028 would look really nice.

Huge game.

Tell 'em

I know the issues for them. I think they did a great job," the coach said about Dort and Brooks. "In my opinion, Dillon's last two fouls were very questionable. I don't think they treated some of their players and our players the same way, but that's not my job to say. I'm happy with my players' performance. The same with Lu Dort - he did an unbelievable job. If we would've kept those two guys on the court, I was very comfortable with how the game was going.

Anyone else absolutely love Fernandez? I think the raptors passing on this guy as head coach is one of their bigger blunders.

In terms of tommorow...Canada matches up very well with Australia. We have excellent defenders that can neutralize their main gaurds (giddy, mills, green, exum).

Joe ingles always scares me, but it looks like he only played 3 minutes last game? Sounds like exum will be playing tommorow as hes ready to go after a finger dislocation.

Australia is on a high after beating Spain and are full of belief they can beat us as well.

My main concern is how we handle the Giddey / Landale combination, but we handled Greece with Giannis (albeit he got his points) so I'm sure Fernandez will have a plan to deal with them.

We should be above this kind of thing by now.

If someone really felt at home here, became a citizen and all that, then it is what it is, but hoping for that scenario is kind of gross and desperate.

Canada had nothing to do with Scottie's development as a basketball player at the grassroots level. I know a bunch of the better Canadian players end up going to prep schools in the US, but at least they developed to that point in Canada.

That's what we need to focus on, not hoping random Raptors players really like Canada.

And kind of besides the point, but if Scottie isn't on Team USA in 2028, we (Toronto Raptors we) are ****.

I am pretty concerned with this game. Too many 'experts' trashed the Giddey trade and I find the reverse on the dominant opinion on podcasts to be pretty predictive. Can definitely see them losing this and suddenly having their backs against the wall vs Spain. Hopefully they come out with max intensity.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….
