Red shirt year makes no sense for Tatum, he was the #2 option on the gold medal team 4 years ago

That was a weak team, this team has KD, Lebron, Curry, Ant, Bam, Booker etc etc. Amongst all these great players, Tatum is CLEARLY lower on the totem pole

The last team had KD, Bam, and Booker, lol. They had Lillard instead of Curry. Tatum got more minutes and shots than all of them except KD. Pop just knew how to use Tatum better. Pop is also a better coach so that makes sense.

Kerr is a horrible coach. Joey Mozarella would’ve brought us to the promise land

Lebron made it to the finals with that cleveland team.

Bird would have won 4 rings with that team, in this weak ass era of basketball.

LeBron and KD are better than him and Kerr is trying to build rhythm and chemistry.

I’d add Ant is also a tier above him. And White while not necessarily better, he plays his role better. Tatum goes iso too many times trying to get his and that’s not something USA needs with all these better scorers around

I don’t know that Any is overall better than Tatum yet, but he definitely is better in the role team USA is filling.

I feel like it’s pretty obvious to everyone not named Simmons and the people in Boston why Tatum doesn’t play.

You guys really think USA can drop games in this group and point dif will matter? Come on

The more reps these guys get the better. They're still extremely clunky with the LBJ/Curry lineup.

As much as I don't like Tatum's game, I'm also surprised he's not played.

Tatum is better than Booker at literally everything. No excuse for this bs

Booker is on literal fire. Booker is a better scorer. And a knock down shooter. Tatum shot 20% from 3 in the finals and has been pretty bad throughout all the friendly games. Easy choice to bench him, excellent coaching

Booker gave up as many points as he scored in this game. Just watch him get smoked constantly on defense.
Tatum over Booker every day of the week! :nonono:

The top 3 teams in each group are likely ending up 3-0 so tiebreak for the Top 2 (won’t be part of the QF draw).

France beating say Japan by 50 pts and then Canada defeating Spain and/or Australia by 30 or something can skew those Top 2 (assuming US takes SS and PR lightly and wins just by 10 points or less).

Booker is the better shooter/scorer which is really what they need out of that role. Tatum’s appeal is an all around game but there’s better all around players and more lethal discrete skill set on this team.

That doesn’t make any sense. Tatum won Olympic gold as second option.

He's not, but Booker's better at the role Team USA wants from that spot. It's not really that difficult.

The Tatum fans crying here are really funny. All Booker and KD did was go and shoot the hell outta the ball.

Point diff matters to be one of the 2 best 1st places so you get an easier quarterfinal draw.

Why are people crying about Tatum getting a DNP? He played big minutes in the exhibition games and we almost lost to South Sudan. He plays zero minutes today and team USA was absolutely dominant.
