Sam Vecenie recapped Hornets summer league and said only Stephens has a shot at a roster, but he looked so slow to me

He also said Nick is too skinny and weak to play in the rotation this year and needs to get stronger to be able to finish at the rim and up his efficiency or its just hard to play him real minutes. He noted that Nick looked engaged on defense however and that's a good sign

Agree with Sam on Nick, and agree with you that Stephens is WAY too slow. He couldn’t recover on defense and trailed too often. Didn’t appear to be conditioning really. Has some nice offensive skills but nothing that wouldn’t be neutralized by league level players.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Stephens is slow, but we are talking about a 2-way contract for a guy that should be the 4th center on the roster, not including small ball Grant. He at least brings size and would be the only real center who can spread the floor on the roster.
