all bigs struggle with that and its why basketball games involve so much scoring.
if a matchup goes particularly awry the countermove is going small but then you give up rebounding, the rim, and a guy like giannis would take an absolute physical beating every single night.
the answer is keeping teams on their heels having to make multiple adjustments thru a game and brook is a back line chess piece for that.
for me now no discussion about lopez is complete if you arent discussing what he can take away from other teams. we saw the year he was out how desperate we were to have what he brings and paid a high price for it. but a guy that can almost singlehandedly force teams to try and rain 3s or shoot pullup midrange jumpers without crushing your offense is exactly why a gobert or lopez or embiid will always have a place on all nba defensive teams..... and the defensive metrics of their teams often back it up year after year
We just need a complimenting piece that isn’t Giannis to play the 5. And have to be real that certain matchups the team will be more likely to benefit from Lopez not being on the court OR we have to figure out how to use him differently in those match ups. Pacers gave us a preview to how teams are going to try and play us going forward, just like Toronto did with the wall they built defensively, so ball is in our court to figure out the adjustments
