Make that 19-12 Canada with a Piper Logan legendary run.

And the extra 2 points for 21-12 with less than a minute left!!!

Shout out to Summer McIntosh who obliterated the field in the 400 Individual Medley yesterday to earn her 1st gold medal and second medal of these games. She's favoured to win two more medals in the coming days.

All of this at 17 years old. I don't remember what I was doing when I was 17 but it was nothing productive.

First time having watched Rugby, I was highly impressed with that match.

Rugby is consistent fast pace and action compared to the slogs and constant breaks of other sports. Would definitely watch again
just be aware that actual 15 a side rugby is a vastly different sport. I thin the 7s is probably more of a jarring difference than the difference between 5v5 and 3v3 basketball

Coco Gauff was a real bad choice as a flag-bearer, she's making a fool of herself and Team USA.
I think the US process of letting athletes vote is wrong, it basically favors popularity, most athletes dont know anything about other sports, so it's no wonder a basketball player and a tennis player were picked. It should be a committee like most countries.

Yep the replay is pretty clear, but she's doubling down in her postgame interview. I love how she says "I never argue these calls" when she always argues calls and argued that one call. And then "But he called it out before I hit the ball," Gauff said to Campistol. "It's not even a perception; it's the rules." :noway:

something i found interesting with the Netflix show "Physical 100" was how almost every contestant knew who the other athletes were from their country of South Korea. You would hear people say "is that him?" another say "its him!" talking about an Olympic athlete who competed in rowing lol. In America if your not on a Wheaties box we probably have no idea who you are or what your story is.

Swimming, track (all the sprints) and weightlifting are always my favorite events regardless of who’s competing.

There’s this weightlifter named Lu Xiaojun who weighs at 178 lbs, watching his lifts on YouTube are mind blowing. He does a perfect squat with 595lbs. While barbell squat not the lift to compete in the Olympics, but seeing someone who throws my max squat (375lbs) like it’s a wand while weighing less than 30 lbs than me is insane.

Yea it's one of the rare downsides of being the best nation, we have so many olympic champions that a lot of them get overlooked. In France or Korea, any olympic champion, no matter the sport, becomes an instant star, gets invited on national tv and gets endorsements.
And Olympics achievements are the most important criteria when it comes to choosing a flagbearer, no other major country would pick a 20yo with no Olympics experience just because she has a lot instagram and tiktok followers.

It's disappointing and shameful from a french fan perspective. Anne Hidalgo, the mayor of Paris, made it a political point by promising they could swim in the Seine and she refused to relent on it. It blows my mind they dont have an alternative ready. France is probably one of the countries with the most rivers, you cant drive 10 miles without crossing one or two. They have the Marne nearby which is already used by open water swimmers for training, they could have used the part near Disneyland and have them run and ride in that area. Turning it into a duathlon completely ruins the competition.

Totally skewes results! Advantage to those whose worst sport is the one dropped. Very poor contingency planning.

Beyond shameful, given that since the Seine decision was made people have expressed concerns about this, and the Paris officials have uniformly dismissed such concerns. Imagine if you are a triathlete whose strongest event is swimming, you train your entire life for this event, and then you are treated like this.

Shocking.

Simone Biles and Team USA win gold in the artistic gymnastics team event! It was weird seeing a french arena cheering on american athletes but french people really love Simone.

If swimming is your best leg, why even bother competing?

Yeah it does suck for some who have the comparative advantage in swim. That said, the Tri is never (or rarely) won in the swim. Duathlon will favor the favorites (Yee and Wilde) anyway. Although I do wonder if the extra focus Wilde has put into his swim would help him vs Yee in a full Tri.

Yeah spot on, 7s is a much more entertaining watch, especially for non rugby heads. full 15 a side is much more of a slog.

1st Medal for NZ this morning over Canada, been a dry Olympics so far for us, a couple of medal hopes in the Swimming unfortunately didn't come through. Hopefully the Rowers get a few on the Podium. Few chances in the Track and Field too.

I miss the days when Australian league Rugby used to come on ESPN after midnight. Many a night spent falling asleep watching our cousins from down under grind the glorious bejesus out of each other.
From a fundamental standpoint it is better for a man to have nothing but be under the protection of Jesus Christ than for him to have everything he could ever want yet be completely without.
