Germany looking extra good with the outside shots.

Re: 2024 Olympic BASKETBALL Thread (Pt.3)
I think these Olympics are showing that people need to calm down a little bit about Victor. Yes he has extraordinary physical tools and sky-high potential, but he is still years away from being a finished product who can carry a franchise on its back. If San Antonio makes a run this year, I think it would be more due to Chris Paul than Victor. I still think they have upside to go to the play-in tournament, but I don't see much beyond that point yet.

Maybe he learned from getting rejected by Mobley in the playoffs. This time, he changed it up and went with the left hand.
Nice play, either way.

Wemby's getting pushed outta the paint because he's so slim. Passes result in turnovers because of it.
Sure, but some of this stuff is just making me angry. Wembanyama is begging for the ball whilst being guarded by Schroder underneath the basket and these guys just don't see it.

Caboclo registered an efficiency of 43 which was the second highest since efficiency started in 2016. The only higher mark was Luka Doncic's 49 against Argentina in 2021.
People can make all the fun they want about Caboclo, but he´s a legit NBA Center and even in the games he was limited with foul trouble he had a positive impact on the floor, even against Wemby.

This is true but Wemby’s game is also just much more suited to the openness of the NBA.
You need to be strong af in the Olympics/FIBA to have a lot of success as a scorer. That or be an elite shooter, he is currently neither atm.
He’s been pretty mediocre this run but would it surprise you if he averages 25/12/5/4 in the first month of the season? Probably not.

A well coached very good basketball team vs a group of genetically gifted players (+ old Batum & de Colo)

That France vs Germany tiff could of course shake up the standings. If France pulls of the (minor) upset, Canada jumps to #2 but if France gets a big blowout win they could take over that spot.
With the condition that QF opponents can’t be previous groupmates, Canasa will be forced to avoid the weaker opponent (Australia) and instead could get France (or Germany/Serbia)
Yes i can’t wait for the final score for the final final point differential. LOL

Serbia is in? I thought they have one game to play. I thought you have to win in order to qualify

Fair, but in the NBA people talk about him as if he's a refined product....he's got plenty of things to work on. (and yes I know, that's the scary part).

France is the most disappointing team in the tournament by far.
Germany looks just as impressive as the world cup

Wemby body language decidedly looks off. He looks winded or injured or something. Taking nothing away from Germany who are taking it to France in every way, but an isolated observation. I do wonder if he's sick.

Assuming Serbia and USA take care of business tomorrow, France will play Canada in QF, while Australia will play Serbia

I'm pretty sure he quits on our "legendary" coach
