while i am a fan of Simons and think he would do well here, to me it would be to play with Suggs and KCP. That trio can play any 2 combination together. Cole would have to be moved though.

 A HIGH VOLUME floor spacer that was 6th in the NBA in made 3 pointers per game isn’t that good lol?

He is a solid player, but yes not as good as you seem to think. Im fine with trading for Simons IF the FO is okay with paying him 27 mill to come off the bench, and if he's okay with coming off the bench. Something like Cole+Howard+ maybe a 1st is fine with me in that case. I still prefer Sexton though

Sexton would be good too, its just dealing with Ainge. He wont make a trade easy versus Portland wants to move Simons to make way for Sharpe at SG and Scoot at PG all the time

Yeah but its possible Ainge wants to move on from Sexton and Markannen and tank hard for Flagg. Still, I probably wouldnt give up much more than Cole+Howard+1st.

I prefer Sexton because he's been in and out of the starting line up often in Utah and never heard him complain. Simons IIRC wasnt too happy coming off the bench in Portland. More importantly though, its the salary difference that makes Sexton way more realistic. Sexton makes 18 mill/yr, and that is fair for a 6th man of that caliber. Not sure this FO wants to pay their 6th man 27 mill/yr, that would be more than KCP. Sexton also plays with more energy on both sides of the court (not that either guy is a good defender at all)

The guy is a weapon…and a legit ballhandler. It’s such a luxury to have a guy in the backcourt that can play either spot, score in bunches when needed, etc. KCP & da Silva are nice refinements to our existing system, but upgrading Cole to Simons as a microwave is a big step forward offensively.

Two guys (or even 5) that score 10 ppg is not the same kind of thing as a guy who can go get 30 for himself at any moment…or, simply spot up and knock down as many 3’s as the defense collapses on Franz & Paolo.

If he accepted Cole money sure. But I don’t see him joining our team as a 30 a year million backup.

 We have been hearing Anfernee Simons for the past two years on this message board. Can we give up already?

I admit he is a good player. But I really do not think this FO is going to use 2 FRPs plus Cole or Jett Howard to get him.

Don't you forget, we believe in Organic Development more

Simons keeps coming up because he's so clearly available from a team trying to rebuild around younger, better-fitting guys. Nobody's obsessed with Simons above all other guards...it would just be seemingly easy to get him and his fit would be clean in ORL...it's amazing how young he still is, given his scoring and shooting resume...hidden in Dame and CJ's shadow and now on a rebuild/tank team deep in the invisible Pacific NW.

It's honestly not bad at all...it's just the next step towards real relevance. We are not yet "development" away from contending. IMO, we still have to add real talent (ostensibly, by combining some of these middling guys' deals). Then, like the best teams, we'll fill out the roster with vet min guys hoping to catch a ring.

Simons isn’t worth anything close to that.

Cole + a late pick maybe Carter + a late pick.

I like Simons a lot and think we could cover for his defense here, but not for suggs. We'd be much less able to cover for his defense in that case.

I love Simons but that is not going to happen. The point of getting Simons is to add to the core of Paolo, Franz, and Suggs not to take away from that.

Suggs absolutely not in the equation. I figure Cole, Harris, frp or maybe 1 ORL pick + DEN pick.

i just dont think he gets two 1st rounders. If they really want to move him, there arent a lot of buyers out there.

Zero interest in Cole. POR wants picks.
