They are worth double a regular basket, as opposed to traditional basketball where they are worth 150%?

Because look at the line up. They really need to let NBA players play. Guys like DeRozan and McCollum would be lethal.

So anyway I gave it a chance yesterday and watched for a bit, and it was total letdown and an awful product. No way in hell 3x3 basketball will never be what for example beach volley is compared to real volleyball, no matter how hard FIBA execs try to make it happen.

Beach volleyball at least has girls in bikinis. 3x3 has can't make it to the g-league talent.

Re: Biggest disappointment in the Olympics Embiid or Murray?

Post#1242 » by phanman » Sat Aug 3, 2024 3:00 pm

I'd say Embiid is the bigger one and by a large margin. Unlike Murray, he walked his way into a starting role and somehow has struggled to simply fit. He looks lazy and lethargic out there and from my POV he hasn't let go of his ego to do the small things that bigs are required to do. That's why there was such stark contrast to when AD and Bam sub in.

In Jamal's case, he was joining a core that have been playing together for a few years now. SGA and RJ are the primary bal handlers and the you have Nembhard who is coming off a career year and cemented himself as the first guard off the bench. He struggles no doubt, but he's playing a vastly different role on offence and was never a plus defender to make a difference there. Unlike Embiid, who routinely touts himself as a superb defender.

They have a chance to compete against USA.
Durant and Schroder are the players who make the difference.

France and Wembanyama are a dissapointment.

Greece(my country) has a good appearence and Antetotokounmpo plays his best Fiba tournament.
Tolliopoulos is also a good player for Greece but the rest of the roster is mediocre at best.
Spanoulis is a very good coach.

Canada has a very good team but I think Germany is better.
If Canada had Wiggins instead of Murray they would be in better place.

I think our main issue(Canada) is our lack of any decent bigs. Not so much Wiggins.

Hopefully Edey can suit up for us in 2028. If we don’t medal this year, it’ll be because our lack of size in the front court.

Dwight Powell is a super frustrating player to watch. He's always this close to making something happen then ultimately fails.

Securing defensive rebounds has def been a problem for Canada. That and rim protection. Edey would have been a great help, shame on Memphis for holding him out if that's true.

Murray.

I wasn't expecting much from FIBA Embiid, but Murray has completely disappeared.

Good game for Team USA to get more players going. Get Tatum, Edwards, Curry, Booker more shots and more responsibility maybe. We don't need to play Lebron ball

Embiid was bad in last years playoffs and may have had one injury too many on still being the player we knew him as

This is nothing short of a goddamn embarrassment and a travesty. Every single player should hang their head in shame. And as for the coaches they should never coach basketball again.

If i'm Spo and Puerto Rico keeps playing zone, i'd tell Kerr 'put Tatum in, i've run him through the zone for years and he can anchor it from the middle these days'.

Wings: Tatum, Brown, Hauser

I love Edwards game when he is attacking and aggressive without hesitation. I hate his game when he pounds the ball without intent. In NBA I can see why he does it, but with this team he needs to use his athleticism to get easier shots for himself and his teammates. He can be a real catalyst off the bench.

I wonder how that works with USA basketball. You really think Spo tells Kerr anything without Kerr asking him? I think Kerr runs the show and asks the assistants for their input. I have no idea how it really works, but I see it as something where everyone is on their best behavior and "too polite".
