No way she retires with the Olympics coming to the US next. She's only 27. And she's tied for 1st now in golds all time for a woman, she won't get another one here.

She needs to do another edition to break the record.

Also depends on priorities. Life as a swimmer is really tough. Early rises, and two sessions.

No. We are winning a lot of medals elsewhere. So he is fair play :)

Im convinced Olympic distance runners are just extreme masochists that found a decent outlet for their insanity. You couldn't pay me enough to run for 5 hours.

There's only two athletes in this Olympics with 4 medals and she's one of them. The other is the French male swimmer who has won 4 gold medals.

Ariarne Titmus has 4 medals too

And Ledecky

Simone Biles still have 2 more scheduled events so she potentially can get on this list.

Yea. When I posted that it was before the 800m race for Titmus and Ledecky.

So it's now

Leon Marchand (France) 4 gold
Summer McIntosh (Canada) 3 gold, 1 silver
Ariarne Titmus (Australia) 2 gold, 2 silver
Katie Ledecky (USA) 2 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze

It's wild that people can train their whole life and literally win or lose by hundreds of seconds or points regularly in events.

That said, the training leading up to the events would be a lot less boring than that for swimmers. It takes a special type of person to stay motivated with the monotony of training. I did the morning training for a short while in my early teens. It’s not fun.

Seriously lol. It stresses me out. You live your entire life training for your event and the whole thing is over in 10 seconds.

They are used to that because they do so many events before the Olympics.

True, I did the morning cardio thing off and on for years before my knees started to go, but I could only go for about an hour at a jogging pace at my best and needed headphones on while constantly switching up my route to keep things interesting. Swimming would be mind warping boring.

It's still somewhere. Another mod unstickied it while I was asleep haha. I think whoever it was thought there were too many stickied threads right now. I'll put it back at the top when the Olympics end.

Oh ok haha. I assembled a standing desk and have some mystery extra screws left over and a pulled muscle in my back I didn't know existed and I've pulled plenty of muscles over the years. That mofo was HEAVY. But it works so.... Yeah some IPA and some more IPA and here I am rambling in the wrong thread because I can't find the right one.

Please excuse me.......

Yep. That was unreal. She was 4th just before the final turn. My jaw dropped when she managed to overtook Brown. She straight up carried the Netherlands to a gold medal.
