Oh ok haha. I assembled a standing desk and have some mystery extra screws left over and a pulled muscle in my back I didn't know existed and I've pulled plenty of muscles over the years. That mofo was HEAVY. But it works so.... Yeah some IPA and some more IPA and here I am rambling in the wrong thread because I can't find the right one.

Please excuse me.......

IPAs are also pretty good company.

Deliciously dangerously so yes... :D

US looking a bit better in the gold medal count even with a bunch of potential gold medals still to come in track and field, basketball, volleyball, women's soccer, etc.

I'm guessing it'll be a close finish similar to Tokyo. At the same time though I feel like the US swimming team is hitting it's real downward point now and I can see a lot of emphasis being driven in to hopefully have better results when we host the Olympics in 4 years. Australia has always been great with swimming but I think the U.S. is competitive when it comes to this stuff. 4 years will bring on some new needed blood to represent the country.

I'm still shocked that we don't have a semi finalist in Surfing on the Mens side and that we didn't have a gold medalist in Skateboarding. 2028 will be really interesting for both given that both Surfing and Skateboarding are such prominent staples of Southern California - will be interesting to see who makes it out for Team USA there.

I did leave one of G R E Y's post unanswered in this thread in an attempt to comply with Sealab's request of not talking about this issue anymore but, yeah, things didn't turn out that way and the issue was never dropped.

The funny thing here is that I was probably in the process of replying to that post of yours while you were writing that post

Knowing you always reply posts, I was offended that you left out my post TBH. It's all good.

Seriously lol. It stresses me out. You live your entire life training for your event and the whole thing is over in 10 seconds.

I was mind boggled cuz they just show the target in archery on TV.WTF..they are hitting a DVD from 70 meters!!! Insane.

Just watched the men finals. Absolutely **** epic.

Feel bad for Brady Ellison, he's a legend but he never won an Olympic title. Silver here.

They were tied after 5 sets and there was a single arrow shootout. Closest to the bullseye wins.

The south korean won by 5 mm. Legendary battle.

Imagine the distance from the picture above.
And losing a gold medal for less than a fifth of an inch.

So that's four competitors who've lost the chance to compete for a medal, one ending the fight early for fear of her physical safety. (And Staneva wanted to end the fight in the 2nd round yesterday but her trainer said to continue. Wow. What's a fighter to do if someone else doesn't take gloves off?)

lol so a bunch of people got outraged initially because they were told Imane was trans, then almost immediately it became overwhelmingly, abundantly clear that she is not in fact trans, so the smarter ones backed down and the rest were too proud to do so, and thus kept doubling and tripling down trying to find evidence they were right all along to be enraged rather than admit they were wrong

The naked hypocrisy is really evident when in one breath they will screech about how "unfair" it is for Imane to compete and the next praise Simone Biles or Katie Ledecky, who are objectively way more dominant in their respective sports.

The Uneven Bars final in gymnastics was fantastic, even without the two biggest stars in the sport the level of the performances was really impressive. The French gymnastic federation really screwed up with the way they treated Kaylia Nemour, they drove her to compete for Algeria instead and now she has an Olympic gold while the French women's team failed miserably here.

Majority never said anything about Khelif being trans but XY DSD is the central issue in question. You repeatedly bringing it up and skewing the argument is telling but not at all helpful.

If there were questions about Biles or Ledecky's XX you'd have a point. But no one is questioning that. This is an irrelevant red herring.

I have to say, was pulling for Carlos, but very very happy for Novak. The **** stubborn endurance (is this a Serbian thing? And the temper? I'm think of Pop being half Serb/half Croat) and doing it all his way, now the 5th Olympics, and first Gold.

Congratulations, Novak! It's touching and obvious how much it means to him. Absolute top level consistently, hugely entertaining, highly competitive match.

Not that it doesn't mean as much to Carlos, tears from him as well, but he's the new 'next' star, in his first Olympics, and hasn't had to deal with Father Time, injuries, and weight of previous disappointments. A silver his first time is a great result.
