Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
Is Kelly Olynyk possibly attainable from Toronto?
In the meantime, if they're not going to sign Morris or Covington, wonder if Hezonja would come back over for 16 mins a night on the minimum? Probably not, but worth asking.
It would be hysterical if they signed Korkmaz again btw.

If so, Massai would probably at minimum demand a protected first along with KJ. Maybe a 2nd rounder as well.the_process wrote:Is Kelly Olynyk possibly attainable from Toronto?

Might be worth it though. I've always been bullish on Olynyk.

He’s definitely taking hundreds of shots a day to adjust with it.

He's been getting bigger each year, he'll be fine. As all young players do they get bulkier bit by bit.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
Maxey was drafted at like 200 pounds. Never concerned about his strength. As long as he continues to grow as a distributor so he can run point (need him at 30% assist), we're golden.

Yeah, maybe he’s going to be our starting power forward next season

With Maxey's extra strength, the worry is his shooting touch. As Lebron got bigger, it got easier for him to shoot from distance. I don't know if Maxey can do that, but I wouldn't bet against it.

How much mass has he gained?
20 pounds by looking at him
Reminded me of that offseason when Ben told everyone he gained 33lbs of muscle

I liked Tillie in his draft year, good sized shooter has a little bit of other stuff (ball skill, defense)
Coming off of 2 years out with ankle issues, he should jump at a minimum contract with a path toward playing time

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
I wanted to look into how much rebounding will be an issue for the Sixers. I think it's a little overblown how bad their rebounding will be and think one move could put them as a top 5 rebounding team.
Based on the estimation of numbers below (36 MPG for starters and 12 MPG for bench players), they would be about an average rebounding team per the team averages of last season. Obviously, the MPG might not be accurate, so take it with grain of salt. Our most likely guaranteed bench players (Lowry and Drummond) are stronger at rebounding than the starters (Embiid and Maxey). The bench is weaker in rebounding for every other position.
I put Morris/Bertans as the PF bench players just for an estimate and averaged them our in that role. Obviously, Bertans is a poor rebounder, so it depends if they sign him or not.
If they sign one good rebounder (like Aldama, Eason) that could take the minutes of any combo of Morris/Bertans, Jackson, or Gordon, they would have the potential to be a top 5 rebounding team. If they get an OK rebounder (Fontecchio), they should be able to be a top 10 rebounding team.
See numbers below.
RPG (23-24 Most): 46.7
RPG (23-24 Top 5): 45.2
RPG (23-24 Average #15): 43.6
Name / min / rpg
Embiid / 36 / 11.8
George / 36 / 5.6
Martin / 36 / 5.8
Oubre / 36 / 6.0
Maxey / 36 / 3.5
Drummond / 12 / 6.3
Morris/Bertans / 12 / 1.5
Jackson / 12 / 1.0
Gordon / 12 / 0.8
Lowry / 12 / 1.4
RPG 43.7

He'd probably be signed as a two way player. I don't think they'll give a guaranteed contract to a dude with a big injury history.

And we still don't know if he did it to fill out his outfits better or for the ladies

We can almost bet that Maxey is putting on muscle to be a better basketball player.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
How good can Maxey be this year? Can he leap to a top 20 overall? There are still things about his offensive skill package I'm not a fan of, but now I know that he's going to keep adding something major to his toolkit every offseason. I think Embiid definitely sets a good example.
If he becomes a shot creator in the mid-range he's got a chance to get to top 20 this year. His playmaking is under-rated because he's not yet a multi-level shot creator and if he's doing the former the latter will make a jump as well.
He may become one of the 10-12 best offensive players on the planet if he can. That is insane to me that it's even possible. He truly saved the Process.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
I'd argue he's top 20 now. If he can get midrange down he'll be top 8 to 12 by the end of the year. Sky is the limit for this kid. With his work ethic he has MVP potential.SixthStreet wrote:How good can Maxey be this year? Can he leap to a top 20 overall?
