i just dont think he gets two 1st rounders. If they really want to move him, there arent a lot of buyers out there.

True.

He’s a polarizing player like Randall.

Teams like the positives but the negatives are real and put a cap on his value.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

DEN pick is hardly a first rounder…and ours should be late too…figure a couple of Chuma’s not “multiple firsts”

or a couple of Walker Kessler, Cam Thomas', Immanuel Quickleys or Jaden McDaniels.

it all depends on doing your scouting right.

Those are the products of other teams’ scouting departments, not ours. Anything past #8 has been a miss for Welt.

Correct.

Weltman has been terrible outside of a top lotto picks, which sucks for an organization that is basically required to build through the draft. He doesn't make trades or relevant signings on the margins to argue otherwise. I feel comfortable with da Silva being a good rotation guy based on his age and skillset.

Wes Iwundu
Melvin Frazier
Mo Bamba
Chuma Okeke
Cole Anthony
Caleb Houstan
Jett Howard
Tristan da Silva

Thats 2 out of 9 picks that are playing real minutes so far. One of which being marginal as a rotation player. Terrible success rate.

yes, but you cant just say the #16 is only worth a "Chuma" to another team when they may have better scouts and take a much better player.

We can talk outliers and scouting depts all day…but IMO, late firsts are WAY overvalued in trade talks …especially for an already young team on the rise with clear needs. Semantics…

Would I trade Giannis for Simons? No
Would I trade the 15th pick in a weak draft for Simons? Yes

For every Giannis, Draymond, Simons (himself) pick - there’s literally scores of Chumas. Trade for certainty at this point in the team’s trajectory.

And-1

By value, a late-teens pick should develop into a rotational backup. Many more will flop out of the league than emerge as a dependable NBA starter.

Trading a pick outside the top-5 for a known starter is a asset upgrade. It is not really debatable for me.
Yes tanking teams will take on loads of rookies to find that one gem in 10, but Orlando is not such a team.

Let me look at this another way: would Orlando trade Anthony for SImons? Anthony is exactly the sort of player a teens-pick is supposed to become.

p.s. the Magic hitting on F-Wagner at #8 solves a lot of past pick selection disasters.

This thread is like a bad fart in the car that the a/c just can't get rid of.

I really don’t think this thread will die until Simons is actually traded.

And whatever he is traded for will have a "we missed out" fury of posts.
