Not coming from me, but I do see it, but there's a Derrick White quality in the way he moves his feet on defense and makes decisions (even without the ball) on offense. DWhite-Lite from 4/5 position is helpful.

It’s the hands for me. One of the first things you read on his scouting report and hasn’t been a lie yet

They might have someone else they want to sign to his spot. Either way, at this time he's not an outstanding G League player, let alone an NBA player.

WHOA!

They must have someone else they want to give a two-way to, take a look at and maybe even take into consideration for the 15th playoff spot. I guess??! Really surprising move IMO.

oh ****, that's really surprising!

They must have someone they want on a 2-way, and didn't want to convert Peterson to a 'real' contract (yet or ever), and obviously you don't cut your all-time G league leading player in JD Davison, even if he's never going to play meaningful minutes for the Boston Celtics

Damn. Really liked Watson as a long-term developmental Al-style (not saying 'Al-quality'!) bench piece.

I wonder who they’re gonna sign, it’s probably gonna be a pretty quick signing.

Any guesses, anyone?

Brian Robb
Watson did not appear in a game for the Celtics during the regular season, suiting up for Boston in just three preseason games. The 6-foot-8 forward did make 21 appearances with the Maine Celtics in the G-League, posting 12.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in 18 starts. However, his efficiency numbers were underwhelming, shooting just 42.8 percent from the field and 30.8 percent from 3-point range.

With Watson released, the Celtics will have two days to sign a player to a two-way contract before the March 4th NBA deadline, if they elect to fill the open spot. A league source told MassLive that Boston plans to consider their options ahead of Tuesday’s deadline. Several other teams around the league have made moves involving two-way players in recent days ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.

Boston’s other two-way slots are currently filled by Drew Peterson and JD Davison. With Jrue Holiday currently dealing with a finger injury with an uncertain recovery timetable, the team could be looking to add some extra experienced backcourt depth.

Skylar Mays
DJ Steward
Marjon Beauchamp
Kennedy Chandler
Amari Bailey
Isaiah Wong
Mike Miles

Those are some guards who I think are not currently on a two-way and still have two-way eligibility remaining

I was also a (former) member of the Anton Watson optimism club.

Feel like they didn’t like something about him but that’s just a guess. They cut one other 2-way guy, that Nathan Knight PF, can’t remember if that was last year or the year before. But he wasn’t a guy they drafted of course.

Norris, 24, averaged 17.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists over 36 games in the G-League this season. The 6-foot-7 forward is known for his outside shooting, knocking down 38 percent of his attempts from 3-point range this year on 8.6 attempts per game.

Well this guy puts up threes so that fits.

Maybe that note we discussed about Boston not drafting guys that can’t shoot. Maybe Watson was reluctant to shoot or something. I looked at the G league stats not long ago but watsons volume didn’t catch my eye.
