Now if we don't see improvement and we go 2 and 15, okay there's a serious problem. But if we see a step forward at least in terms of defense, facets of offense and special teams, I see zero reason to fire these guys without seeing what they can do with a QB that they select themselves. A 7-10 finish would be an overachievement considering Jones is horrible and our offensive line is still ranked next to last.

Am I looking at this the wrong way?

Which media are pushing that narrative? I haven't gotten the sense that they are on the hotseat.

I don't know if it counts as media, it kind of is, but Hard Knocks is making them look good. I'm enjoying the season so far, though I'm streaming so I'm an episode or two behind.

I try not to put too much stock into Hard Knocks but seeing Schoen operate makes me believe that he can really build us up here.

I think having to deal with the fallout from the Gettlemen regime is heavily understated.

I feel like Flott has to be begging for intersquad scrimmages and preseason because he has been getting destroyed this entire camp. I don't know if this is because our WR room is full of animals or he just sucks really bad

well, this is going to be schoen's 3rd offseason. we were a pretty talent starved team before schoen came, and it kind of looks like we still lack a lot of talent.

he really needs to hit some of these drafts. these drafts have yet to pan out though nabers looks great so far. if the previous 2 draft classes continue to look weak, it's a serious problem.

how many more chances should he get

I don't like the idea of pulling the plug on Schoen so quickly after Gettleman left this team in a precarious position when he "retired".

This was never going to be a two season fix imo. We still need a QB. I think some stability at GM and coach is needed for now, I don't want to repeat the same circus that we had in the previous regime.

The whole Kadarius Toney arc from start to finish of his draft choice to the trade was a disaster.

Gettleman basically told everyone we wanted a WR and we wanted Devonta Smith. Eagles know that and trade up in front of us to draft him and we panic and instead of taking the BPA available (Parsons or even going OL with Slater or AVT who were considered safe good lineman). We panic traded out of the pick and then pick Toney at #20. We also got the Bears 1st round pick the next year which resulted in Evan Neal with the #7 pick

Then we traded Toney for a 3rd round compensatory pick which we ended up trading for Darren Waller.

I mean talk about 360 degrees of ****

This is a small thing, clearly just a go route on the boundary, and yeah it's just practice, but this is the stuff we had Ridley doing and he could never create any space, that's why he was such a bad fit for us. If Brian Thomas Jr. can get open deep like this, it hits the mark we were trying to hit all last year and will really open up the offense for us. Felt like everything was stuck in mud because we couldn't really threaten deep.

Giants got me pumped tf up. Lions manhandled us last year and they showed to be a good team. This year we manhandle them.

Danny hit Hyatt down field as well for a bomb. Again, clean pocket, and this is with Hutchinson on the field.

Coaching matters a lot. I don't care what anyone says, Bobby Johnson was a cancer on that staff

Yep. That's what I like to see. Everyone should have each other's back no matter what. I don't advocate Danny getting into fights but I look at guys who don't get their hands dirty during a scrap with a side eye. Either you're grabbing your teammates or you're protecting them. No in between.

Just remember when I was saying months ago the Giants wont be in the running for a top QB this year. I always use the Knicks, buts its the same scenario. Just good enough to miss out on the top cats.

Its a tough place to be in. However, tough to be mad at the team if they are competing for a WC spot if they are playing and being coached well.

I look at it like this if the Giants are better then expected the defense has to be pretty good and Jones and the passing attack with Nabers/Hyatt/Robinson has to be doing pretty well as well (which also means the OL has to be holding up somewhat).

They certainly built the team to prioritize the passing attack more (adding Nabers and letting Barkley go). Even Hardknocks kinda insinuated that there pivot from trading up for a QB was running it back with DJ and giving him a pathway to improve.

If they do well its hard to be upset, if they do bad they probably will be in the top 10 with a chance for a QB via the draft. I don't know what kinda season Jones would have to have for you to be ok with not getting a top QB in next year class, any thoughts?

By all accounts, Giants held their own against the Lions today.

The FO made the decision to compete to the best of their ability this year, so tests like this are encouraging.
