Golden State is heading towards one of the toughest places in sports. On the one hand, Steph is still one of the top 7 players in the world and means so much to the franchise. On the other hand, do you want to offload future assets for what could only be a 1-3 year window at best as a fringe contender? Remember, Steph turns 37 in March and has a ton of playoff mileage on him.

I think Steph has earned the right to either finish his career in Golden State, or for the Warriors to accommodate him to a desired destination to round out his career.

But given how hard it is for a player to stay in one spot for his entire career - I see Steph staying.

EDIT: Very sketchy source, so increase the speculation factor...

If Curry's saying this kind of stuff now then I think he will be traded by the deadline unless some of their young talent steps up.

GS knows they need to retool and basically pushed Klay out. They won't do that to Curry but they're also not making all in type moves to appease him. It's somewhat analogous to the Dame situation in Portland though I doubt it drags out the way Dame's did because of personality differences between the two players. Dame was very emotionally attached/invested, and I think Curry will be more pragmatic.

The Knicks should not be in play.

While it's similar to the Dame situation there is a difference. Curry has earned the right to decide if he finishes in Golden State or not. Dame didn't earn that same right in Portland.

It's tough when the star still feels he can compete and the organization doesn't feel the same way. Remember, Curry won't be on the team in 4-7 years when they are potentially a bottom of the league team without control of their draft. In a lot of ways, this is similar to the situation that the Lakers and Lebron are in, with Lebron wanting the Lakers to give up all their picks for the best piece they can get and the Lakers wanting to hold out for the future.

Curry has more cache but the Blazers didn't move Dame until he asked out. Even then, they pretended they were all shocked when he did. That's how it's similar. They're whittling away Curry's support in planning for the future while still stating they want him as part of the present. If somebody like Moody or Kuminga takes a leap forward then maybe it comes together and they keep the band together.

curry feels like he’s on the verge of being washed…

He’s not the player you want next to Brunson. Incredible talent though. Obviously the Knicks shouldn’t say no, but he isn’t leaving them and the Warriors would ask for very young or future assets in return, of which we have none left.

I haven't read all the subsequent responses but I will disagree with you about GS's demands in a Steph trade.

IMO, if Steph goes to GS and says I want out, GS won't "grind" Steph for a Ainge-like deal. Steph is an icon in SF and has done so much for GS that owner Joe Lacob will largely accede to Stephs "ask" for a minimal price. That's just NOT a $$ relationship that Lacob will want to burn. For Lacob having a post-career Steph inside the GS tent is a $$ windfall for him.

Its not Kraft & Brady but Lacob is kinda partial to Steph.

I think it’s more likely GSW trade Green, Wiggins and youth for Durant than them ever trading Curry.

I could see that.

I mean seeing Emmitt Smith wearing an Arizona Cardinals jersey was an abomination! On that level I hope Steph stays in GS.

They may as well trade Steph if they trade Green, he has been pretty adamant that Draymond is a huge part of his personal and team success.

I'm late in responding to this but I can't believe PHX got Tyus Jones on a 1 year min. I thought he'd be the perfect back up PG for us

playing time

he probably is the starting PG or at least playing 20-30 minutes a night...he was never getting anywhere near that level of playing time behind Brunson. And because he doesn't defend he can't play alongside brunson either.

He went to PHX to build up his value to hopefully hit the market next year.

The defense wouldn't have been an issue with the wings we got and how potent offensively it would have been for spurts together.

If PHX is smart, he should start

you still don't want Tyus Jones or Brunson on POA defense...that would be a recipe for disaster. I think he landed in a good spot. PHX isn't deep and they really needed a guard to get there team into sets. Booker was running too much point for them last year.

He would have only been in a limited role with Mikal playing a lot of 2 for us and DD here as well. He would have been relegated to the issue we have with Duece right now where he probably on play 12-14 mins a night.

I think he wanted the 1 year deal once he didn't have a great market to hopefully build his value for next FA.

We got a shooter so we’ll be alright.

He busted our ass when I saw them.

It's weird that given that they're looking to move him. Maybe it's just feelers in case there's a great offer out there.

Kevin McCullar and the New York Knicks have agreed to a Two-Way deal. McCullar was an All-Big 12 First Team player this past season.

McCullar was the 56th overall pick in the 2024 draft.
