When you saw how far he was clearing it while 2nd and 3rd were struggling to get to it, it was pretty obvious his match to lose and just how far he pushed himself to break a WR.

Forgot that Flag Football is coming to the games in 2028. Curious how many other countries truly play football - I'd guess Australia and New Zealand will definitely be in the mix with their history of rugby.

I think Canada would be the obvious #2 just because of having American football (plus Canadian football league) and some colleges with football programs. Players have come into the NFL from Canadian amateur football.

There's also professional leagues (they don't pay much) in South Korea and Japan playing American football and some programs at the High School/college levels.

p.s. slight tangent, but there's a documentary that I've yet to gear myself up to watching about a climber going up a treacherously steep rock *without* ropes. Mind boggling attempt and feat.

Free Solo?

Definitely check that out, then after you watch that watch The Alpinist. Both are really good

Meru is better then both IMO

I'd like to recommend "The Dawn Wall" as well, cheers.

Edit: also, "Vertical Freedom".

Amit Elor is starting out pretty dominant.

Apparently, she's the world champion in the 72 kg weight class, but has dropped down to the 68 kg class for the Olympics.

I think she won her first match 10-2, against the reigning world champion no less, and others at 8-0 and 10-0. And the one takedown she did give up was very late in the match, after it was essentially already decided.

Banned temporarily for, among other sins, being "Extremely Deviant".

There's something really cool about seeing athletes competing at 3/4/5 Olympic games and still being top competitors as opposed to some sports where these athletes come in and are churned out after 1 or 2 games.

The events that really annoy are ones where those 'churned out' athletes are young teenagers who are spit out after using up their youth/smaller body size to help in the event.

Haha the wiener guy was someone else. A French athlete in the decathlon I think.

This is Mondo Duplantis, who is actually American but competes for Sweden in honor of his mother. World record holder in pole vault and better than anyone else by a mile.

prefacing my comment that we don't really know what is Khelif's medical situation and that we are speculating, as this is very sensitive information and the Russian IBA is not a reliable source.

the thing here is that where you put the line thinking it's a clear demarcation but it most likely won't. There will be athletes just near the limit that will have an advantage over the others. This will be a moving target by default, at the moment the women that don't pass that limit should be allowed to compete without all this madness around them.

Madness that is incredibly offensive and disrespectful, as the tone of the general discussion completely ignores how delicate and personal this is and on the contrary people seem to just want to see the ladies involved suffer.
My 2 cents: don't call this gender testing, there have to be objective parameters that you must respect to compete. Don't load it undermining a person identity just to score against the "libtards".

USA Beach Volleyball teams dropping like flies. Only one left on the men’s side.

Sucks because the US women had a chance to play each other soon in the semis and both lost in the last 24 hours

Khelif defeated Janjaem Suwannapheng again. This was the same tilt after which Khelif was tested and disqualified for failing the IBA XX test (about which a letter was most recently sent to IBA to not allow results be made public).

Fifth XX fighter prevented from a chance to advance fairly.

IOC has no shame or credibility.

I expect it to be better in 2028. SoCal is the world epicenter for Beach Volleyball and it would be fitting to see gold both in Mens and Womens.

Women's category is really an Open category until IOC reinstates biology-based clarity testing. Perhaps with new upcoming leadership can do better than gaslighting XX women who have to have compassion for being hit 2.5 times harder and stay silent about it.
