Why is Curry struggling so much in the Olympics?

Post#1 » by Mean_Streets » Wed Aug 7, 2024 2:24 am

He's been the worst player in the starting lineup, even Embiid is starting to pick up his play after his initial bad start . Curry's shot isn't falling and teams are attacking his defense. I'd say Curry & Tatum have been the most underwhelming team USA players so far.

I mean, it’s potentially terrifying for opponents. He’s due to catch fire at some point.

To your question, maybe he hates the feel of the FIBA ball? :dontknow:

Has he been bad? He only took 3 shots today and made 2 while going 3-3 from the line. I just think he's playing a floor general role and letting Lebron do all the play-making and letting everyone else take all the shots.

The Olympics are nothing more than a no-stakes exhibition tourney to pad his trophy case.

Judging by your avatar it's no surprise you are defending his play.

He's been pretty bad when you compare him to the other players.

Curry doesn't need to do anything but run around and have fun to win gold. Let everyone else do the heavy lifting. It's like being out on the playground for him. Makes perfect sense to me.

My advice is for you to withhold judgement until next season lest you look stupid.

You seem defensive. He has been outshined by basically all the players except Tatum.

I'm guessing he becomes less effective with the FIBA 3 point line and he has been the worst defender on the roster.

Who cares?

We haven't loss a single game. Curry/Tatum/Embiid haven't looked great yet we still undefeated.

He's declined a little over the past season but he's also a player that takes advantage of movement and Team USA don't play with much movement and FIBA is less open offensively than NBA. It's not a great setup for him honestly.

On the flip side, a guy like Patty Mills does well because his team sets him up to be open to shoot. Put Steph in the Australia team in the Patty role and he looks like the GOAT FIBA player.

I would guess heavy volume shooters still need the ball a lot to get that rhythm. Even for the off-ball GOAT and greatest shooter ever, I assume less touches means less effectiveness. On this team there really isn't a lot of ball to share.

He’s running around playing decoy so everyone else can shoot and pass the ball. The few times he actually does get to shoot he’s missing. He’s a rhythm player who isn’t expected to get shots because no one else on the team is going to move. Steph is playing a completely different game than everyone else.

He's not struggling in the Olympics. Whatever Jamal Murray was doing is someone who was struggling in the Olympics

The team keeps doing well when he’s on the floor. Not sure if you are looking at the right thing. Are judging play by points? Dont.

Team is doing well because they have like 8 superstars on the roster.

If you include the exhibition games, he's only had 1 game where he really showed out.
