Warriors Not Interested In Brandon Ingram, Zach LaVine

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Aug 7, 2024 1:02 pm

The Golden State Warriors were very interested in trading for Lauri Markkanen of the Utah Jazz, but that ship seems to have sailed. Despite still being interested in making a move, don't expect the Warriors to trade for a big name. That includes Brandon Ingram of the New Orleans Pelicans or Zach LaVine of the Chicago Bulls.

Golden State is still looking at ways to upgrade the roster, have shown no interest in either of the high-priced veterans. The Warriors may now go into the season with their draft picks and young players and look for a trade before February's deadline.

The Pelicans have been rumored to be looking at deals for Brandon Ingram, as they need to rebalance their roster. Ingram is also in the final season of his contract and is rumored to be looking for a max or near-max deal. New Orleans seemingly has no interest in paying Ingram anywhere near that amount, and has explored the trade market for the veteran wing.

LaVine has been available since before last season's trade deadline. The Bulls haven't been able to find a taker for the veteran guard and the $138 million left on his contract over the next three seasons. This situation appears to be destined to go into the season, as well.

Warriors “light years ahead” or just got away with overspending on talent when their biggest rivals at the time in the west played for owners who always ducked the luxury tax. Once Adam silver in 2022 put in that new overspending rule and the warriors owner has to spend like every other team they all of a sudden look pretty below average

I feel like they could use Ingram, dont think they have a reliable secondary ball handler.

in fairness, teams beat them by changing the rules on money. its not like they could plan for a second apron they didnt know about.

Many teams overspent, but Warriors had no bench with Durant, so the whole team had to play a lot of minutes and thats how and why Klay and Durant got injured and Klay got reinjured after and his prime ended with those injuries, so Warriors lost a ton for their two chips with KD. Prolly would've still been relevant if they didn't do that Durant trade that cleaned out their roster to get him in. Not that I hated the Curry vs Lebron saga from 5-10 years ago, but Rules make things more competitive now imo, different finals/champions every year.

They are going to focus on Podziemski and try to shape him into a Curry-like player. They do not need Ingram he is just a slightly better and more expensive Kuminga playing on a team that lack scorers, so his stats are inflated. Ingram has no value in today's market, but Pelicans would ask for Wiggins + Kuminga for him. There is a reason why Warriors are not interested in Lavine and Ingram, because they have Kuminga, Wiggins and Podziemski, who are easier to trade if needed and contracts are not big if they dont trade them, also they are used to the Warriors style of play and there is a bigger chance they can have more impact.

The Warriors spent a lot of money for sure - but for the most part it was on their own players they drafted, developed and coached, foremost among them Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson. Their success is due to stellar team-building, not to buying an All Star roster on the open market.
