Time to pivot back to that high bar GTJ is setting, eh?

nah, i'm going full nut nut on Green because if I dont I'll go crazy. So he's going to get at least a 20M/year contract in a few seasons because that's what happens when you can shoot at an elite level, pass, and play league average defense.

Or teams will stop overpaying shooters, like how Toronto pulled their offer to GTJ and now he plays for the minimum, or how Beasley only got more than the minimum because Detroit had to hit the salary floor.

Not true as the following shooters all got paid this offseason.

Isaiah Joe (4yrs/$48MM)
Aaron Wiggins ($4yrs/$45MM)
Buddy Hield (4yrs/$37.7MM)
Max Christie (4yrs/$32MM)
Luke Kennard (1yr/$9.25MM)

Reminder that during the Summer of Hambone (tm), Bucks legend Mirza Teletovic aka MT The Bigga Figga inked a 3-year deal averaging 8-digits.

Do I begrudge the mouth-breathing El Diablo Azul, Luke Kennard, getting a similar amount for plying his trade? I do not. I'm here to post, not hate.

I think all those contracts prove the point that nobody is overpaying for shooters anymore. Hield is coming off a 20+ million year contract and Kenard was around 14+million.

I wasn't arguing the free agent market hasn't shifted away from shooters, but more so to the OP's argument that the deals GTJ and Beasley signed was an indication teams will not spend overpay for shooters. Floor spacing is still a necessity to be a contender in the NBA and the contracts I listed above shows teams are still willing to pay MLE money to shooters.

I wonder how the actual board fell if they clearly thought AJ was a better “swing for the fence” which I believe was the phrase someone used in the war room? Gotta assume it was an upperclassman they didn’t think had the upside Johnson has would be my best guess. The way the board fell after 23, I’d say at least 1 of Shannon, Scheierman or Jones were ahead of him on the Bucks board. They did a much better job blurring out the board than Denver lol.

Ι liked Pasecniks 5? years ago when he was drafted. I thought he was a nice cheap Brook replacement. Seems like he hasn't progressed at all and he lost his potential. I would certainly prefer Vuksevic ... better shooter, younger ... Horst is just not him, we need a better GM

Yes, seems likely, but Green is so much more than a shooter. And dont even get me started on the "it factor" with that guy.

I can't remember who said it, but I read one person describe AJ this way, that in 5 years he could be the best player from this draft or he could be out of the NBA. And I don't think Shannon, Schiernman or Jones have that variance. I say all of that as someone who wanted them to take Shannon even though he is the same age as Zion and he looks it, he looks like a 5-year NBA vet and so I very much get the worry that his success was in small part playing against guys that he was 3-5 older than. But I still think his 3-pt shooting and transition scoring would've translated.

Crazy that AJ Green and GTJ were born in the same year.

I expect Doc to give GTJ at least 30 minutes a game this year and I'm good with it. Ride a 25 year old veteran that's put up 30 ppg in 5 straight games in the past.
AJ Green can wait, learn and watch.

That seems like a lot of rebounds for any league.

As long as PG isn’t teaching him how to close out a playoff series in the clutch, I like it.

That Paul George clip above is great. It is a bit scary though to see how thin AJ Johnson is compared to Paul George. He’s got a long way to go to fill out that body.
