The role players indeed stepped up big time for the French. We can credit playing at home for that. As much as saw some questionable ref calls, they still had to defend and make those baskets and the French no-names did.

Canada was favored big, Germany slightly lower but still considerable favorites.

Pre-tournament, they were also the top two favorites (outside the US).

They did not end up according to expectations— the very definition of chokers.

Ok, so when a team plays better than the oddsmakers think, the other team choked. Got it.

For these international players, playing at the olympics for their national team probably rivals winning the NBA finals, maybe more.

That’s understandable. USA after all is a super team, so when they win it’s just par for the course and really lesser satisfaction.

i guess this is why Luka and Giannis, playing despite the injury risks, and others still plays, for probable moments like this since any kind of medal will feel like gold already.

Glad that it was France that advanced. Now we get to beat up on the hometown team in front of their crowd. Couldn't have drawn it up any sweeter.

Wild run by the French after looking like garbage prior to the knockout rounds. Props.

Massive stakes for Embiid in the finals if the US gets there. The slander would reach nuclear levels if France pulled off the upset.

Hope Serbia wins, I have tickets for the bronze medal so I'd like to see Team USA

Are you a USA fan? If so, this would be tough for me to decide what I wanted

On one hand seeing team USA live would be amazing, but seeing them go for bronze would be a bummer knowing they can't win gold

I'm just accepting the fact that you're not the smartest guy. Go watch some more first take and undisputed - it's clear where you got you're knowledge from.

But just to make it real simple. France was no underdog in this game because they got high quality players and homecourt advantage. Everybody with a clue knew that this will be a tough and close game and today they were the better team and deserved to win. That doesn't mean that our team choked. They played their ass off but shots didn't fall and the french defense was too good today. It happens in sports.

France looked so bad in group play. Crazy they're headed to the finals.

Did Fournier get a hair transplant or is it micro tatts? We need answers to the real questions now that this tournament is a formality

This is the only reason i’d want the French to win. It would indeed be nuclear— not just against Embiid, that’s a given but to the legacy of the old guys (Bron, Steph, KD). Americans would be in a total meltdown if the impossible happens.

Yes, choking happens in sports. Your star (Wagner) had one basket (?!) in the second half. ONE!!! That’s the very definition of choking…

Fournier’s last worthy run i think so happy to see him get these good games because i think this is the season he gets cut and released back to Europe by his NBA team.
