Jonathan Kuminga Looking For Max Extension From Warriors

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Aug 9, 2024 11:59 am

In the latest episode of Yahoo Sports' No Cap Room podcast, Jake Fischer reported on the Golden State Warriors plans with Lauri Markkanen off the trade market. With their young players still in the fold, the Warriors are expected to turn towards potentially extending Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody.

A rookie scale extension for Kuminga may not be cheap for Golden State. Fischer reported that Kuminga is looking for a max extension. That would see 6-foot-8 forward signing for just over a projected $224 million over five years.

Thus far, Cade Cunningham, Evan Mobley, Scottie Barnes and Franz Wagner have all received max rookie scale extensions from the 2021 NBA Draft class.

Kuminga averaged career-highs nearly across the board last season. He put up 16.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 26.3 minutes per game. Kuminga also started in 46 of the 74 games he played, while shooting 53% from the field and 75% at the free throw line.

Let’s see how he does this year. Might be worth it.

He should request a trade, GSW is a toxic organization for young players.

I get his opinion of course, we all want that. Some of these players need a reality check.

Per game not relevant, since Kerr doesn't play young guys.

Kuminga started only 45 games and played 25 mpg

In the games he played >30 mins Kuminga averaged 21 pts on .554/.372/.777 shooting splits

His per 36 mins is 22 pts 7 reb 3 ast 1 stl

Someone will pay him in RFA if it comes down to it

You can see why the Clippers and Jazz didn't want him in trade...

His value is like the rookie extension version of Siakam. Good player, but, nobody wants to pay this guy the max.

Yeah young people like James Wiseman who've gone elsewhere have really blossomed, huh?

26.6 mpg as a rook.

BTW James Wiseman got 21.4 mpg as one of Kerr's rookies... unlike Podz he didn't earn them, but he got them.

Pay the man. Kuminga is already a walking mismatch and a nightmare to guard and has a super high ceiling. Future all-star, book it. Way higher ceiling than BP, who Dumbleavy kept instead of bringing in a 25 & 10 all star like Lauri smh.

They like to conveniently forget this part lol. BP is solid, but that's his ceiling - "solid role player." He doesn't do anything elite, he's not gonna go get you 20 or 30, he's a glue guy nothing more. Very replaceable. Divencenzo 2.0 (solid player but not elite). This is why you trade him for Lauri but our GM is a fn idiot. He already lost Klay, and he struck out on Lauri. Dude's clueless and setting the GSW up for continuous mediocrity. The Warriors are going backwards.

The dude is 21 years old and has gotten better every single year. If you can't see the talent level, you're blind af.
